Sleazy, Sleazier, and Sleaziest: Ban Ki-Moon, The Quartet, and the Obama Administration’s Leon Panetta

UPDATE: Numerous Palestinian terrorist rock and Molotov cocktail throwing incidents throughout Judea and Samaria on Friday afternoon: soldier wounded by rocks in Halamish (5:31 pm), mother and two children in car assaulted by rocks (2:43 pm), rioters pelt security personnel in Shechem (2:20 pm), three Molotov cocktails thrown at IDF soldiers (1:20 pm), stones thrown at bus near Migdal Oz and Gush Etzion (12:59 pm), more Molotov cocktails thrown at IDF soldiers in Al-Aroub (12:28 pm).

The bombardment of southern Israel continues, with missiles fired by Hamas terrorists striking Israeli border communities with Gaza just past midnight.

Two Palestinian Hamas qassam rockets being launched out of Gaza toward southern Israel

As you can see from the right hand column, there have been 27 Palestinian strikes against the children, women, and men of southern Israel in the last 13 days. In “retaliation”, the IAF launched six strikes against Gaza last night and this morning which apparently hit “tunnels” and empty buildings–accomplishing absolutely nothing.

TODAY’S BLOG:

It would be easy enough to blame the rash of rockets on the visit of so-called “diplomat” U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon–visits by diplomats almost always result in attacks on Israeli civilians–but Islamist Hamas is well into another cycle of missile attacks.

Following a visit to Sderot and Sha’ar Hanagev yesterday, Moon made comments that were indicative of just the sort of sleazy moral ambivalence one would expect from a U.N. Secretary General. On the one hand, Moon condemned the unrelenting rocket attacks on southern Israel; on the other hand he slimily condemned Israel for carrying out operations in Gaza to stop the rocket attacks.

If Ban Ki-Moon was sleazy, then the Quartet showed itself to be even sleazier yesterday. According to the Palestinians, the U.S., the U.N., the European Union and Russia have hatched a little plan to get the infantile Palestinians to return to the negotiating table–which is where the Palestinians were before President Obama took office and demanded that Israel stop building homes, schools, and hospitals in Judea and Samaria.

Representatives of the pathetically sleazy Quartet

Despite doing nothing, despite making no concessions, despite making no constructive effort to reach peace, the Palestinians have coerced the pusillanimous Quartet into demanding that:

1. Israel allow public Palestinian police presence in Area B of Judea and Samaria, which is currently under Israeli security control.

2. Israel ease restrictions on Palestinian traffic in Judea and Samaria (read: eliminate security checkpoints).

3. Israel issue more working permits to Palestinians who work in Israel and Jerusalem.

4. Israel allow the export of goods from Gaza to Judea and Samaria.

5. Israel release more Palestinian prisoners in March.

6. Israel authorize the PLO-Palestinian Authority develop gas reserves off Gaza’s coastline.

7. Israel reduce IDF activity in Area A.

8. Israel permit the launching of international projects in Area C.

Are you reading this? Israel is supposed to give, give, give, give, give, give, give, and give some more–in return for the Palestinians agreeing to talk. If you, dear reader, have seen a sleazier plan of late, please contact your humble servant post haste.

But the sleaziest move yesterday was not made by Ban Ki-Moon or the Quartet. It was made by the Obama Administration, speaking through U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta.

In a bizarre interview, Panetta warned Iran that Israel will attack soon and even provided a timeline: “in April, May, or June.” Here we have Panetta, who was recently in Israel meeting with members of the Israeli government and defense establishment, giving the outline of a coming Israel attack.

And your humble servant does not want to hear that Panetta was using the comments to “bluff” Iran (Iran is obviously not going to be bluffed out of nuclear weapons) or that he was using the comments to spur further European sanctions (it is obvious that no sanctions will stop the Iranian nuclear program). Just this morning, the Iranian grand Ayatollah Ali Khamanei declared “The Zionist regime is a cancerous tumor, and it will soon be removed.”

The sheer outrage of the United States, an ally of Israel, warning Israel’s archenemy of an impending Israeli attack is the sleaziest deception possible.

Thank you Leon, and thank you President Obama for potentially putting Israel and Israel’s armed forces in harm’s way. (By the way, your humble servant will be more than happy to eat his words if it turns out that Panetta’s comments were part of a disinformation campaign designed to deceive the Iranians).

Sleazy, sleazier, and sleaziest: Ban Ki-Moon, the Quartet, and the Obama Administration-Leon Panetta.

THIS DAY IN ISRAELI HISTORY

On February 3, 1995 the United Nations General Assembly overwhelmingly adopted resolution 49/62 which condemned Israel for a laundry list of actions, and supported all findings of the “U.N. Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People.”

This was merely one of hundreds of such General Assembly resolutions–which continue to this day.
