What Will You Do For Israel In 2013?

NUMBER OF DAYS UNTIL THE ISRAELI ELECTION: 21

ISRAELSTREET endorses NAFTALI BENNETT for Prime Minister

Head of “HaBayit HaYehudi” (The Jewish Home) political party

UPDATES 6 pm Israel time Tuesday:

*Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud Beiteinu party continues to implode with the latest polls having it winning only 34 seats in the election three weeks from today. From the moment that Likud began its attack on Naftali Bennett, its fortunes have plunged. At the rate the party’s popularity appears to be dropping, a result of only 27 to 28 seats seems increasingly likely.

All of Israel is aghast over this Likud campaign ad against Bennett that appeared today:

The dirty Likud campaign ad that appeared this morning.

Depicting Bennett behind concentration camp barbed wire and containing a yellow star of David, the ad accuses Bennett of trying to undo 60 years of Likud’s effort to integrate the Israeli “religious right” into mainstream Israeli society. According to the ad, Bennett will lead to the “religious right” being ghettoized in Israel.

During the day, a parade of Likud leaders have reacted in disgust, but the man who produced the ad, Moshe Ifergan, is actually on the Likud Knesset list and has refused to apologize.

*The Jerusalem municipality has declared that it will not pay the 9,000,000 shekel sewage and water debt owed by the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the Greek Orthodox Church, and the Armenian Church. The Municipality pointed out that the Israeli Knesset, Yad Vashem, and the Western Wall all pay their bills and so should the Christian institutions in Jerusalem.

*The outbreak of violence in Judea and Samaria in the last 24 hours is documented on the israelstreet breaking news ticker in the right hand column. Israel security personnel have been assaulted in numerous Molotov cocktail and “rock” throwing incidents.
