U.S. Middle East Policy Has Gone Bananas, Again

UPDATES 7 pm Israel time Saturday:

**Despite the efforts of a mob of some 150 Palestinians, yet another recently built illegal Palestinian outpost near Shechem (Nablus) has been razed by Israeli security forces this afternoon.

**Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu complained bitterly this morning that Bashir Assad did not respond to the apparent recent Israeli attack on Syrian “dignity”. He even accused Assad of having signed a secret treaty with Israel, and went so far as to ludicrously suggest that Turkey would act to defend Syrian territory:

“Is there a secret agreement between Assad and Israel? The Assad regime only abuses. Why don’t you use the same power that you use against defenseless women against Israel, which you have seen as an enemy since its foundation? Turkey will not stand by as Israel attacks a Muslim country.”

**Joe Biden, speaking for the Obama White House, raised the prospect of bilateral U.S.-Iranian negotiations this morning in Munich:  “We  . . . made it clear at the outset that we would be prepared to meet bilaterally with the Iranian leadership, we would not make it a secret that we were doing that, we would let our partners know if that occasion presented itself. That offer stands, but it must be real and tangible and there has to be an agenda that they are prepared to speak to. We are not just prepared to do it for the exercise.”

This absurd statement of course comes two days after Iran announced it is increasing its number of centrifuges in an effort to refine its uranium to ever higher grades. The Obama White House is simply out to lunch.

TODAY’S BLOG:

In more ways than one.

Morsi's forces attacking an Egyptian protester two days ago.

It has been a normal week in the Middle East. Egyptian demonstrators have been beaten and killed in the streets of Egyptian cities by Morsi’s thugs; Syrian forces loyal to Bashir Assad have butchered and raped men and women by the hundreds forcing thousands of Syrian refugees across the Jordanian border. Hezbollah in Lebanon is doing everything it can to get its hands on Syrian conventional and chemical weapons. Iran was thought to have launched a monkey into space with similar technology that it would use with nuclear weapons (though before and after pictures of the monkey cast severe doubt on the claim) . . . the list goes on and on.

So what have President Obama and his new Secretary of State John Kerry decided to do to stop all of this carnage and mayhem?  John Kerry is coming to Israel in two weeks to restart the Palestinian-Israeli peace process because it is “the key to Middle East peace.”

Yes, you read that right. Here we are back in the same old mentality again. If only Israel will give the Palestinians everything they want (including Israel), the Egyptians will stop demonstrating against President Morsi, the Syrians will stop killing each other, and the Iranians will give up their pursuit of nuclear weapons.

According to Obama, Clinton, and Kerry, massacres like this one in Houla, Syria wouldn't happen if only the Palestinians had their own state.

Listen to this claptrap from Hillary Clinton yesterday: “So I know that President Obama, my successor, soon-to-be Secretary of State John Kerry, will pursue [peace], will look for every possible opening… somehow, we have to look for ways to give the Palestinian people the pathway to peace, prosperity, and statehood that they deserve . . . “

When will the United States and the rest of the world ever understand that peace, prosperity, and statehood cannot be given–it must be earned.

When will the United States and the rest of the world ever demand that the Palestinians take responsibility for themselves, and hold the Palestinians accountable for the decisions that they make?

Apparently never.

The Palestinians are just little children who never grow up. They must be coddled and loved at every turn. Maybe if they are rewarded enough, they might stop wetting their diapers.

But your humble servant, as well as you dear reader, doubts that such an event will never come to pass.
