UPDATES 4:00 pm Israel time, Sunday, June 15 2014:
The IDF Central Command has issued an order calling up some reservists and has placed concrete blocks on the main thoroughfares in and around Hebron in order to stop all traffic in the city and surrounding Palestinian settlements. An IDF spokesman says that the kidnappers are believed to be Hamas terrorist prisoners who were released. Thus far, more than 80 Hamas terrorists have been captured.
UPDATES 10 am Israel time, Sunday, June 15 2014:
*The massive search for the 3 kidnapped Israeli teenagers continues with Israel’s premier paratrooper and Nahal brigades being brought into Hebron to help in house to house searches.
Steps taken in the last 24 hours include:
—Hebron has been virtually closed down, and a curfew is being considered.
—All visits to Palestinian terrorist prisoners in Israeli prisons by family and international organizations have been canceled.
–The proposal to add 5000 work permits for Palestinians in Israel has been frozen.
Meanwhile, the head of the PLO-Hamas terrorist government, Mahmoud Abbas, has refused to condemn the kidnappings while Hamas has called for the launching of a full-scale intifada in Judea and Samaria. A representative of the new terrorist government called on all Palestinians who know anything about the kidnapping to conceal or destroy whatever evidence they may have. Finally, Islamic Jihad has called on Palestinians everywhere to kidnap Israelis wherever they can find them.
And in Gaza, the party goes on.
Hamas continues firing missiles into southern Israel with ever increasing frequency– with four more striking late yesterday afternoon and evening. As a result, the crossings into Gaza (Kerem Shalom and Erez) have been closed as of midnight last night.
As of 7:45 am this morning, the Iron Dome system has been deployed here in Ashdod about 1 km northeast of your humble servant’s house. Apparently another Iron Dome system is positioned about 5 km south of here between Ashdod and Ashkelon.
