UPDATES 6 pm Israel time, Tuesday, November 4 2014:
—>Rabbi Yehuda Glick registered more “slight improvement” yesterday following another surgery to deal with the gunshot wound to his small and large intestine. The Rabbi is still anesthetized; however, the medical staff at Sha’are Zedek Hospital has announced that during the next few days he will be gradually awakened and weaned away from the respirator that is breathing for him.
—>It is fascinating how every international and Israeli media outlet continues to refer to Rabbi Glick as an “extreme right wing activist”. Here is a man who advocates for one issue and one issue only–equal religious rights for Jews on the Temple Mount. He does not attempt to foment violence or to incite Jews against Muslims. In fact, he goes out of his way to embrace Muslims on the Mount–and has even appeared in a youtube video reciting verses from the Koran with Muslim men on the Mount.
Since when did advocating for equal rights for Jews become “right wing”? Isn’t the struggle for civil rights usually considered the domain of the “left wing”?
Your humble servant supposes that the “left wing” feels that everyone deserves equal civil rights except Jews–especially Israeli Jews. And if someone does work for those rights, he or she immediately becomes “a right wing extremist.”
—>It is also fascinating to watch the IDF Spokesman’s office shift around to find excuses for the missile fire on southern Israel several days ago. As you may remember, the IDF spokesman appeared in the hours after the launch to defend Hamas by saying that it was a “rogue” organization that had carried out the launch, and that Hamas had quickly arrested 5 of the “perpetrators.”
The absurdity of this was that this sequence of “Hamas launches missiles-rogue organization is blamed-Hamas arrests those responsible” is all part of the illusion that the IDF regularly attempts to foist on the Israeli populace. It is an illusion further “supported” by the claims of “false alarms” and “missiles that fell in Gaza”.
The newest explanation propagated by the IDF spokesman this morning is that the latest missile attack came because of the “situation on the Temple Mount”. This endless dissembling is not only absurd but also dangerous. Are we now supposed to believe that every missile fired out of Gaza is going to be explained away by reference to some security situation in Israel?
The bottom line is that Hamas fires missiles into Israel because it wants to kill Jews and eliminate Israel. No other explanation is needed.
—>Good news in Judea and Samaria this morning. Responding to the ever-deteriorating security situation, a new transport entity, Egged Transport Lines, has been formed.
Eighteen new bus lines have been created, including nonstop ones that will carry passengers directly from Ariel to Jerusalem, and other express lines that will transport passengers from Jewish communities to Modi’in.
More than this, a number of lines (146, 149, 461, 462, 463, 466, 467 and 468) will feature bulletproof buses that carry passengers from Judea and Samaria to the Jerusalem Light Rail train stop in Pisgat Ze’ev.
Expect to hear an outcry from the world about “apartheid buses” because of the fact that these buses are specifically designed to protect Jews from being killed and wounded by Palestinian terrorists. The world doesn’t care if Israeli men, women, and children are hit with Molotov cocktails and “rocks” every day.
Today, November 4th, happens to be the 11th of Cheshvan, the date established for the memorial Yahrtzeit for the Jewish matriarch Rachel, the mother of Joseph and Benjamin.
Thousands of Jews will make a pilgrimage to Rachel’s Tomb today outside of Bethlehem. There they will be attacked by Palestinian terrorists who will throw Molotov cocktails and “rocks” at them.
Why will they be attacked?
You might be interested to know, dear reader, that Palestinian children are now taught in UNRWA textbooks that there is no such thing as Rachel’s Tomb–it is now called the Mosque of Bilal bin Rabbah.
Who was Bilal bin Rabbah? According to tradition, he was an Ethiopian slave who converted to Islam and accompanied Caliph Omar to Jerusalem in 636 CE. On the way back home, Bilal bin Rabbah stopped to pray at what the Muslims then called “Qabr Rahil”–the “grave of Rachel” a place that had already been venerated by Jews for more than 1500 years.
From 636 until a few years ago, Qabr Rahil remained the Arabic name of the tomb of Rachel. At which time, the Palestinians–in their ongoing attempt to eliminate all Jewish history– changed the name to the Mosque of Bilal bin Rabbah, a move that has now been endorsed by the United Nations and its loathsome organization UNRWA.
