TODAY’S BLOG:

**What were the IDF, Border Police, and Civil Administration all busy doing this morning in Samaria? Were they destroying some of the 36,000 illegal Palestinian buildings in Area C?

No. They were busy demolishing allegedly “illegal Jewish structures” in Kfar Tapuach (translated in English as the “Village of the Apple”).

A little context is in order. Tapuach is an ancient Jewish site mentioned in the Bible (see Joshua 16 and 17).  The Kfar Tapuach of today was built beside the archaeological site of ancient Tapuach.

As the map caption above states, the community is strategically located on the “Highway of the Patriarchs”. Tapuach Junction, the site of many Palestinian terror attacks, is a 45 minute drive from Jerusalem to the south and Tel Aviv to the west. It is only 15 minutes from the Jordan Valley to the east.

Modern Kfar Tapuach was established in 1978 by a group of Yemenite Jews from Bareket, Yemen. It has since absorbed immigrants from the United States, Russia, and a large number of Jewish converts from Trujillo, Peru.

Today, Kfar Tapuach has about 1000 residents. It is divided into Tapuach West and Tapuach East.

Back to this morning. What buildings were IDF soldiers, Border Guards, and Civil Administration officials destroying?

If you can believe this, the targets today were buildings connected to the synagogue in Kfar Tapuach West.

Jewish soldiers and officials–who should be worried about “small” things like Hezbollah, Hamas, Al-Qaeda, and IS– were destroying parts of a Jewish synagogue at one of the most ancient Jewish sites in Israel.

How disgusting.
