***Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

It was another day of massive violence in Judea, Samaria, and eastern Jerusalem with more than 40 terror attacks.

The morning was marked by two stabbings:

–in the first attack, a 38-year-old terrorist emerged from the Damascus Gate in Jerusalem, spotted two Border Guards, pulled out a knife and rushed towards them yelling “Allahu Akbar!” He stabbed one Guard before being shot to death by the other. The Border Guard is in “fair” condition this morning. The Palestinian media later reported the terrorist had been a prisoner in Israel who was released in a previous “exchange.”

–in the second attack, a Nepalese woman in the country as a caregiver was stabbed near a bus stop on Shamgar Street in the Romena neighborhood of Jerusalem. She remains hospitalized this morning in “fair” condition. The Palestinian terrorist was caught a few hours after the attack at a construction site in the city.

Also in the morning, an extremely suspicious death took place along Route 60. A Jewish man walking along the road was killed by a Palestinian truck driver in what was almost certainly a terror attack. The latest word from the police is that the truck driver is being called in for questioning today.  One would have thought that this should have happened yesterday. Why are Palestinians still being permitted to drive on Route 60?

In addition, Palestinian terrorists threw Molotov firebombs and  “rocks” at cars on Road 443, Road 436, the Maccabim Checkpoint, Samuel’s Tomb in Jerusalem, Ben Zion Street in Jerusalem, Beit Hadassah in Hebron, Gush Etzion, Beit Ummar, on Highway 6 near Umm al-Kutuf, Beit El, the Mt. of Olives, Beit Horon, and many other places.

Palestinians rioted at Silwad, Ras al-Amud,  Al- Be’er, Karmi Tzur, and Tulkarm.

***PM Netanayahu makes news . . .

Our prime minister was busy yesterday making one declaration and taking one action which your humble servant wholly agrees with–yet wonders how “terminological” the declaration and action were, and how long they will last.

In the declaration, Netanyahu responded to recent reports that he is considering handing over 10,000 dunams in Area C of Judea and Samaria to the PLO. Netanyahu was quoted as telling Likud representatives: “There won’t be any transfer of territory to the Palestinians, not 40,000 dunams, not 10,000 dumans, and not even 1 meter.” However, by nightfall this declaration was already being modified to mean “any unilateral transfer of territory.”

In the action, Netanyahu suspended diplomatic contacts with all European Union institutions because of the EU boykott of products from the Golan, eastern Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria. However, by nightfall, this suspension was already being qualified to mean “diplomatic contacts concerning the peace process.” More than this, Netanyahu’s office made it clear that contacts with individual countries within the EU–even those that support the boykott–would continue as usual.

TODAY’S BLOG:

“The IDF’s Outrageous Involvement with B’Tselem”

The logo of the Israel Defense Forces Military Advocate General Office. Can there be justice for IDF soldiers when the IDF gets its evidence from B'Tselem?

The logo of the Israel Defense Forces Military Advocate General’s Corp. Can there be justice for IDF soldiers when the IDF gets its evidence from B’Tselem?

A quick refresher course: in many people’s opinion, B’Tselem is one of the most left-wing, anti-Israel NGOs operating in Israel, doing everything it can to demean Israeli soldiers and undermine the very existence of this country.

Just four days ago, according to its own website, B’Tselem sent a letter to PM Netanyahu demanding that he stop soldiers and police from shooting terrorists engaged in terror attacks. The letter accuses the IDF and police of carrying out “street executions.”

One of B’Tselem’s favorite techniques is to “manufacture” stories.

B’Tselem sends its “workers” out to a location with a camera to make a video; once there, its “workers” enlist some local Palestinians to appear in the video, and then they use those Palestinians to initiate “a provocation” with IDF soldiers. In short order, the video is quickly edited and sent out to media organizations.

Nothing that B’Tselem produces is untainted; every statement, video, and report should immediately be classified as “suspicious.” In short, one can never believe anything that B’Tselem says or does.

In the context of israelstreet blogs for the last two days which have shown how the IDF Senior Command is now peopled by political wannabees on the “left”, it should come as no great surprise that it has been revealed this morning by 0404 that the IDF is in bed B’Tselem.

Nevertheless, as unsurprised as we are, it is paradoxically shocking to find out that the IDF is working with B’Tselem to prosecute IDF soldiers.

Yes, you read that correctly. The IDF Military Prosecutor is working with anti-IDF B’Tselem to prosecute IDF soldiers.

Just how deeply connected the IDF and B’Tselem are connected was revealed by Attorney Zion Amir who is representing a Border Guard accused of not following the rules of engagement in the killing of a Palestinian terrorist.

In the course of his pre-trial research, Amir discovered a document that revealed that because the IDF had no evidence against his client, it went to B’Tselem and asked it to find such pieces of evidence as the bullet that killed the Palestinian as well as so-called “witnesses.”

Of course, Amir immediately questioned the material and people produced by B’Tselem.

When asked last week to respond to a 0404 question about the connection between the IDF and B’Tselem, the IDF spokesman answered:

“The army attaches great importance to the study of truth and law enforcement in relation to claims and violations of the law. In this context, and when necessary, military prosecution officials conduct professional dialogue with civilian bodies and organizations, including the organization ‘B’Tselem.’ These relationships have in some cases [been effective in] promoting investigative actions by obtaining the cooperation of Palestinian witnesses.”

Say what?

Prosecution of IDF soldiers at any cost? Even at the risk of using tainted evidence and manufactured witnesses?

It is outrageously shocking.

Finally, ask yourself this simple question: if you were an IDF soldier, how would you feel if you knew that the IDF that you in serve so loyally is working with anti-Israel organizations to prosecute your fellow soldiers?

Many words come to your humble servant’s mind–foremost among which are “abandoned” and “betrayed.”
