The News On The Street In Israel

Palestinian terror continues unabated . . .

Another 24 hours, another 30 Palestinian terror attacks.

Religious enlistment in the IDF continues to increase . . .

The number of orthodox young women joining the IDF has increased by 26% so far this year. The actual number is still small (2000), but compared to past years (for example in 2010, only 930 enlisted for the entire year), it is a substantial increase.

12% of these orthodox women become officers–a higher percentage than secular women (8%).

The continuing battle at the Israel Supreme Court . . .

Chief Justice Miriam Naor is angry again, and angry again at Israel Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked.

This time Naor is angry because Shaked is refusing to formally announce Naor’s replacement, Justice Esther Hayut. The problem is that Shaked wants a quid pro quo. In return for announcing Hayut’s appointment, Shaked wants an agreement that conservative justices will be named to replace Supreme Court Justices Yoram Danziger and Uri Shoham, who are retiring next year.

Not surprisingly the ultra-leftist Naor is doing all she can to resist conservative Justices on the Court.

The astonishing amount of money the PLO pays terrorists . . .

The Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs released a study today showing that the Palestinian Authority paid more than $1,000,000,000 to terrorists and their families between 2013-2017. The sum constitutes 7% of the PLO budget.

One billion dollars. The “poor” Palestinians. What a joke.

“What do you expect from us?”

In an “off the record” interview with Israel’s Maariv online 360 site published today, an unnamed Palestinian senior official was remarkably honest.

Referring to the Israeli and American call for the Palestinians to end terrorist incitement, the official said that the demand is “unrealizable.”

Why, you may ask?

According to the official: “Generations of Palestinian children have been educated in Greater Palestine, the right of return to Tel Aviv, Haifa and Safed, and they sing praises for terrorists and martyrs. They can not at once forget everything they learned. What do you expect from us?”

Doesn’t this say it all?

And confirm everything that we have been saying all along? As if it needed confirming.

From one side of their mouths the Palestinians profess that they want peace. From the other side they teach their children to hate Israel and fight for its destruction.

It is worthwhile to repeat, from the mouth of a PLO official:

“Generations of Palestinian children have been educated in Greater Palestine, the right of return to Tel Aviv, Haifa and Safed, and they sing praises for terrorists and martyrs. They can not at once forget everything they learned. What do you expect from us?”
