The News on the Israeli Street

Another missile strike from Gaza . . .

We now have mortars and missiles exploding on the Golan Heights and missiles exploding in Jewish communities on the Gaza border. At 10:42 pm last night, at least one missile fired from Gaza struck near Netivot.

In what has become the norm, no incoming missile alarms were sounded, and the IDF probably would have claimed that no missile was fired at all were it not for the hundreds of reports from residents on the ground of missile impact explosions. Fortunately, no Israelis were physically wounded.

Then, in what has also become the norm, Salafists in Gaza took credit for the launch, and then IAF planes “attacked” empty buildings and sand dunes that the IDF General Command is fond of calling “Hamas training facilities.” We could hear the bombs being dropped on the sand dunes all the way up here in Ashdod at 1:40 am this morning.

It has all become a sick joke.

This all came as reports of another sick joke emerged yesterday. It appears that Israel is now holding secret meetings with Hamas on the subject of another “exchange.” This time the exchange will supposedly be Hamas terrorist prisoners for the body parts of two Israeli soldiers killed in the last Gaza war.

The body parts of two Israeli soldiers?

As much as your humble servant sympathizes with the families of the two soldiers, the thought that terrorist murderers might get released to kill more Israelis in return for an arm or a leg or some other body part is abominable.

What Hath Eight Days Wrought On The Temple Mount?

It has now been eight days since Jews were allowed on the Temple Mount. Eight days in which Jews could not visit the holiest place in Judaism, and eight days during which approximately 1,000,000 Muslims have been given unfettered access.

This morning pictures have been posted by some of those Muslims showing the utter desecration of the Mount. Terrorist banners have been hung from all the trees and buildings, and a business has sprung up selling plastic boxes of candy adorned with pictures of Palestinian terrorists who have murdered Israelis–including the terrorist murderer who killed Border Policewoman Hadas Malka a week and a half ago at the Damascus Gate of the Old City.

And this:

Not surprisingly (because the Jerusalem Police and Islamic Wakf continually collude with each other), all Israeli security presence on the Mount has disappeared. In short, all Israeli sovereignty on the Mount has evaporated.

Supposedly, Jews will be able to return to the Mount on Wednesday, and on Thursday there will supposedly be thousands of Jews who ascend the Mount on the anniversary of the murder of Hillel Yaffe Ariel (you will remember that she was stabbed 32 times in her bedroom in Kiryat Arba a year ago).

Your humble servant writes “supposedly” because he was there last year when we ascended the Mount two weeks after Hillel was butchered. On that occasion, thousands of us waited to ascend the Mount, but in the end the Jerusalem Police and the Islamic Wakf only let a very small number of us go up. When my wife and I finally got there, we were permitted to stay on the Mount for only 3 minutes.

And even then, we had to walk in a straight line from the entrance at the Mughrabi Gate to the exit at the Chain Gate.

The thought that the Police will allow thousands of Jews on the Mount on Thursday is delusional.

Sadly, the thought that Israel has sovereignty over the Temple Mount is also delusional.
