The News on the Israel Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

It was a “normal” Friday yesterday with Palestinians going to Friday prayers at lunch, being urged by their imams to violently attack Israelis, and then going out to try to kill Israelis.

Palestinian terrorists attacked IDF soldiers at such places as the Jabel Johar area of Hevron, Deir al Rusun, and the Al-Bureij area of the Gaza Border Fence. In the latter attack, a number of terrorists were wounded.

Palestinian terrorists attacked the Jerusalem Light Rail train at the Shuafat station last night. As usual, passengers were traumatized and tens of thousands of shekels of damage was done to a train car.

Palestinian terrorists opened fire on a vehicle in northern Samaria; the wounded driver managed to make it to a hospital.

The Israel Security Services issues terror numbers . . .

According to the General Security Services (GSS), there were 222 Palestinian terrorist attacks during the month of July, the most in one month since December 2015.

Of course, this number is completely bogus.

The GSS only tallies terror attacks in which an Israeli is killed or wounded. The endless “rock”, Molotov, shooting, IED attacks that our civilians and soldiers face everyday are not even counted. The large number of Israelis who are treated by MADA for trauma in such attacks everyday are similarly ignored.

Regular readers of israelstreet know that there is an average of 30 terror attacks everyday (and probably more since many attacks go unreported). Just using that number leads to an estimated 900 terror attacks per month.

For example, in the terror attacks listed above that occurred yesterday, the only one that would be included on the GSS terror list would be the one in which the motorist in northern Samaria was shot.

What was not bogus in the GSS reportage was that from January 2016 until today, 33 Israelis have been killed by Palestinian terrorists.

The PLO continues memorializing terrorists . . .

On the evening of March 4, 1975, eight PLO Palestinian terrorists (two four-man teams) arrived in boats from Lebanon, and attacked the Savoy Hotel in downtown Tel Aviv taking 10 hostages. The next morning, a unit of the Sayeret Matkal stormed the hotel.

Seven of the terrorists were killed, and one was captured.

Three Israeli soldiers were killed in the rescue mission: two soldiers of Sayeret Matkal including the commander, and another soldier who happened to be on the scene.

Five civilian hostages were killed (some were blown apart by Palestinian grenades), and five were rescued.

In 2012, Israel released the bodies of the terrorists, and the PLO immediately erected a monument to the “martyrs” in Ramallah over a “common grave” (the bodies were so badly decomposed they could not be identified).

On Wednesday, the governor of Ramallah, Laila Ghannem, went to the memorial and laid a wreath in the terrorists’ memory.

She proceeded to make a fiery speech in which she called the terrorists “victims” and denounced Israel for “cruelty” for holding the bodies from 1975 to 2012.

Just unbelievable.

Did they or didn’t they?

The question is: how did the women smuggle the Torah into the area of the Kotel?

The question is: how did the women smuggle the Torah into the area of the Kotel?

Also on Wednesday, the Women of the Wall once again broke the agreement they had reached with the government by holding prayer services at the Kotel.

According to the Rabbi of the Wall, one of the women smuggled a Torah scroll to the Wall by unwinding it and then wrapping it around her body under her clothes.

The Women of the Wall immediately claimed that the smuggling never took place; however, they were at a loss to explain how they got the Torah to the Wall.

International “Humanitarian” Law

Context.

According to the Oslo Accords which the Palestinians and Israel signed some 25 years ago:

Area A of Judea and Samaria is under total Palestinian administrative control and security control.

Area B is under total Palestinian administrative control and is under Israeli security control.

96% of the Palestinian population of Judea and Samaria live in Areas A and B.

Area C is under total Israeli administrative and security control.

99.9% (the only exception are residents in Hevron) of Jewish community members in Judea and Samaria live in Area C.

—–

As we have often noted on israelstreet, the European Union is engaged in an ongoing attempt to move Palestinians out of Areas A and B and into Area C. It is a blatant attempt to transfer population.

Try to wrap your mind around this.

In the last month, the European Union–with Belgium as the point country–built six structures in the Palestinian settlement of Jubbet al Dhib–in an ongoing effort to move Palestinians into the area which is beside the Jewish community of Tekoa.

The six structures were built without any approval from the Israeli government.

Allow your humble servant to restate this.  The European Union put up the buildings without any permission from the Israeli government–no building permits, no infrastructure permits, no “anything.”

This week, Israel dismantled the six buildings and confiscated all of their contents.

A tent brought in by Europeans to replace a building that was removed. The sign reads: “Jubbet al-Dhib school, a thorn in the throat of the occupation. We read, we learn, we liberate for return" (picture: Chloé Benoist).

Yesterday morning, Belgium demanded that Israel compensate the European Union for the six buildings.

Can you believe this?

The EU illegally builds a compound and now wants to be compensated when it is taken down.

Unbelievable.

Displaying the ultimate in European arrogance, Belgian Deputy Prime Minister Didier Reinders and Minister of Cooperation and Development Alexander De Kro declared: “These new demolitions and the confiscation of essential infrastructure are unacceptable: Belgium’s projects are aimed at fulfilling humanitarian needs and are carried out in strict compliance with international humanitarian law . . . [this complex and others were] all donated by international bodies and organizations.”

Amazing.

The European thinking seems to be that as long as international bodies and organizations decide that it is all right to break the law in Israel, they can just break it–all in the name of “international humanitarian law.”

Sheer, unmitigated, horse manure.

Can you imagine what would happen if Israel suddenly flew prefabricated buildings into Belgium and started to build a community with no adherence to the laws of Belgium? The Israelis would be put on the next flight back to Tel Aviv.

Which is precisely what should happen with the Europeans. They should be put on the next flight back to whatever hole in Europe they crawled out of.
