Absurd Quote of the Day:

“We have located 90% of Hamas tunnels, and we could destroy all of them. Yesterday was a warning; do not push us.”

The IDF General Command and the Israel Government in a message to Egypt two days ago following the destruction of a tunnel that ran from Gaza into Israel.  See Today’s Blog for more discussion.

The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

It has been a wild 24 hours with dozens of Palestinian terror attacks.

Perhaps the most egregious occurred near Nabi Saleh yesterday when the driver of a Palestinian car refused to stop while driving straight toward a group of IDF soldiers. He was shot dead, and a passenger in the car was wounded.

Not surprisingly, the IDF Prosecutor’s Office announced this morning that it has opened an investigation into the shooting and put the soldiers involved on leave. As we all know, it is no longer permissible in Israel for IDF soldiers to defend themselves.

“Rock” and Molotov attacks carried out by Palestinian terrorists occurred at Shechem, Kedumim, Qalandiya, Hura, Aruer, Al Arub, Giv’on, Kochav Hashahar, Ariel, A-Ram, Halhul, Kiryat Arba, Hevron, Yitzhar, El Khader, Gush Etzion, Tekoa, Karmei Tzur, Hizma, Bruchin, Peduel, Neve Tzuf, the Husan Bypass Road, Road 443, Walaja, Silwan, the Mt. of Olives, and Sinjil . . . to name a few locations.

In addition, a terrorist squad was captured between Umm Salmona and Efrat as it was placing four IEDs beside the road.

In response to this unremitting terror . . .

The government incomprehensibly announced that it is going to turn over more that 200,000,000 shekels to the PLO. This was agreed to by our Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon in collusion with PLO officials.

By the way, the Palestinians are still paying nothing for electricity and water supplied by Israel.

Other signs that the apocalypse is near (pardon my cynicism) . . .

*It was revealed yesterday that it was Saudi Arabia which put pressure on the United States to put pressure on Israel to postpone consideration of the Greater Jerusalem Law which would have annexed various municipalities to Jerusalem. So now we have Saudi Arabia controlling what we can or cannot do.

TODAY’S BLOG

Lunacy On Parade: The IDF General Command

Let’s begin today with the quotation we opened this blog with in which the IDF announced that it knows where 90% of the Hamas tunnels are, and if Hamas and Islamic Jihad don’t behave themselves we will destroy those tunnels.

Say what?

We know where the tunnels are, and we are not destroying them? What kind of perverse thinking is this? What are we waiting for?

Yesterday, Islamic Jihad said that the express purpose of the tunnel that was destroyed was for the kidnapping of Israelis so that they could be exchanged for Islamic Jihad terrorists in Israeli prisons.

So is that the IDF’s idea now? We have to wait for a tunnel to be used to kidnap or kill Israels in order to destroy it?

Sheer, unadulterated lunacy.

Also yesterday, Education Minister Bennett (who must have read the israelstreet blog yesterday) blasted the IDF for its incredible apology for having killed terrorist leaders in the tunnel.

Do you know what our do-nothing “Defense” Minister Avigdor Lieberman had to say about Bennett’s remark? Lieberman angrily characterized Bennett’s criticism as a “blatant assault” on the IDF.

Of course it was a blatant assault. It was a blatant assault on the lunacy that now infects the IDF command at every level.

Your humble servant has simply run out of words to describe what is going on with the IDF down here in southern Israel except to say that it is lunacy on parade.
