The News on the Israel Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

So what was the situation throughout Judea, Samaria, and eastern Jerusalem yesterday as we come to the end of the year?

Almost the same as it was at the beginning of the year with more than 100 terror incidents reported by citizens to Rescue Judea and Samaria and hakolhayehudi. Here were some of the locations where Israelis were targeted:

Beit Anun, Mt. Hevron, Deir Qadis (Israeli wounded in the head), Sinjil, Shuafat, on the Gilad Road, Yitzhar Junction, Havat Gilad, El Aruv, Beitar, Judea and Samaria Square, Neria, Gush Talmonim, the Postal Junction, Beit Ummar, Um Safa, Qadum, Abu Dis, Hevron, Jabel Johar, Silwan, Issawiya, Beituniya Crossing, Beit Liqya, Husan, Jania, the Zif Junction, Qalandiya, Salem, Shechem, Turmus’ayya, Yabad, Jilazon, Budrus, Madma, along the Gaza Border, the Hawara checkpoint, Al Bireh, Al-Azariya, Qalqilya, Beit Furik, Beita, Bil’in, Na’alin, Luban a-Sharqiya, Beit El, at Rachel’s Tomb near Bethlehem, Qalil, Mt. Gilo, and on Road 433.

Most of the above locations were the site of multiple attacks.

Two updates . . .

*As the demonstrations in Iran spread, security forces have begun a crackdown with at least 10 protesters reported killed. All forms of communication have been blocked, and a scheduled nationwide address by President Rouhani did not take place.

*Nur Tamimi, mother of Ahed Tamimi of the infamous Palliwood family has been indicted on charges of  assaulting a soldier in aggravated circumstances. Meanwhile Ahed remains in detention for her role in the incident. They both should be planted under a prison somewhere.

The population numbers at years’ end . . .

The Central Bureau of Statistics has released these numbers as 2017 comes to a close:

*180,000 babies were born in 2017.

*73.8% of the babies were Jews; 23.3% were Arabs; 2.9% were others.

*27,000 new immigrants came to Israel: the three main countries providing immigrants were Russia (27%), Ukraine (25%), and France (13%).

*44,000 Israelis died in 2017.

*The total population of Israel is 8,793,000 which includes 6,556,000 Jews (74.6%), 1,837,000 Arabs (20.9%), and 400,000 others (4.5%).

TODAY’S BLOG:

No Happy New Year

For Judea, Samaria, Eastern Jerusalem Or The Golan:

Israel Kowtows to the European Union Again

In a startling display of submission, Israel signed onto the ENI EBCMED agreement yesterday.

ENI EBCMED is a funding arrangement of the European Union that provides “economic cooperation” to 14 Mediterranean countries that are not EU members such as Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Israel, and . . . “Palestine”.

Ostensibly, the money provided is supposed to further socio-economic development. In reality, the money is used to foist EU “values” on non-EU countries. It is one of the worst forms of patronizing, economic colonialism.

So how did Israel kowtow?

By agreeing to a clause in ENI EBCMED that says that no EU money can be used for Israeli communities and neighborhoods in the Golan Heights, Judea, Samaria, or eastern Jerusalem. It is a tacit acknowledgement on the part of the Netanyahu government that these areas are not part of Israel.

Amazingly, only 1 minister in the government opposed this appalling Israeli submission: Sports and Culture Minister Miri Regev.

Former IDF General Miri Regev, now Israel's Culture and Sports Minister. Apparently, she is the only one in the government unafraid to tell it like it is.

Regev angrily declared:

“I do not see the justification to compromise and to sign with one hand this agreement, while in our other hand we demand that the world recognize de facto our right to united Jerusalem as capital of Israel.

The absurd result of the agreement will be that if the PLO submits a project in Hevron or eastern Jerusalem, it will be accepted and supported, while Israel can not submit a similar project. I also do not accept that this agreement refers to the PLO as if it were a neighboring state.

My position is that the Israeli government must reject out of hand, agreements that demand that we de facto boycott parts of our homeland or populations living on the Golan Heights in Jerusalem or Judea and Samaria.”

Bravo to Miri Regev for stating the obvious!

But where were Netanyahu, Bennett, Shaked, Lieberman, and all the other members of our government who always declare their support for the Golan, Judea, Samaria, and eastern Jerusalem?

Nowhere to be seen.
