TODAY’S BLOG:

Murder At Havat Gilad

Here is what we know this morning:

1. At around 10 pm last night, Israeli MADA paramedics were called to Junction 60 near the Samarian community of Havat Gilad.

2. Once there, they found an Israeli woman in her 40s lying in a ditch beside the road. She had obviously been hit by a car, had numerous broken bones, and had bled profusely. She was declared dead at the scene.

3. Witnesses at the scene reported that she had been hit by a Palestinian taxi with Gaza license plates.

4. The taxi driver had fled the scene toward Jit. A massive manhunt was launched. The taxi driver later turned himself in to PLO police, and immediately claimed that it wasjust an accident.Based on witness accounts, there is no reason whatsoever to believe that the car-ramming was unintentional.

As you can imagine, the police have clamped a tight lid on all information about the murder. Information about any murder of Israelis in Judea and Samaria by Palestinian terrorists is always suppressed by the police.

It should also be noted that the woman was run over in almost exactly the same place as Rabbi Raziel Shevach was murdered in a shooting attack earlier this year.

Based on what we apparently know, there is one obvious question:

What was a Palestinian taxi with Gaza license places doing in northern Samaria?

One possible answer is that the driver came through either the Kerem Shalom or Erez Crossing yesterday or the day before after they were opened by Non-Defense Minister Lieberman. But that is just speculation at this point.

Whatever the case, the bottom line is that another Israeli is dead, and another Palestinian terrorist will likely escape justice.
