On top of the smoke from burning tires, bombs, and Molotovs, Hamas is now employing smoke machines to screen their terrrorists and further contaminate the air along the border.

Ludicrous Quote of the Day

“In light of the events in Gaza, the Minister of Defense ordered the immediate stop of the flow of fuel into the Gaza Strip. In the morning four Israeli diesel tankers passed through the Gaza Strip.”

Are you following this Orwellianism from our “Defense” Ministry? The Defense Minister ordered the immediate stop of fuel being trucked into Gaza from Israel. But guess what? Four Israeli diesel tankers trucked more fuel into Gaza from Israel.

And more:

“Israel will not tolerate a situation in which fuel tankers are allowed into Gaza on the one hand, while terrorism and violence against the IDF soldiers and Israeli citizens are used on the other.”

Since Non-Defense Minister Lieberman opened the Kerem Shalom Crossing into Gaza and started shipping in fuel (among other items) several weeks ago, thousands of incendiary balloons have started more than 100 fires in Israeli communities, and more than 100,000 Palestinians have been attacking our soldiers daily and nightly.

And suddenly, Lieberman’s office wants to say that Israel will not tolerate “terrorism and violence against . . . IDF soldiers and Israeli citizens”?

What a pathetic joke.

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

Ten more fires caused by incendiary balloons laid waste to ever more acres of land along the border yesterday. The large fire started two days ago at Kibbutz Ruhama was finally controlled by firefighters.

An estimated 15,000 Palestinians threw explosive devices, grenades and Molotovs at IDF soldiers.

In the worst incident, a group of some 20 terrorists bombed a hole into the security fence, rushed into Israel, and proceeded to run toward an IDF post. They were repulsed when our snipers killed three of them.

A total of six Palestinian terrorists met their timely demise in yesterday’s attacks.

Let Them Stay Home!

Will Lara Al-Qasem finally get deported as she should have been last week?

It’s anyone’s guess whether yesterday’s rejection of her appeal by a Tel Aviv Court will send her back to the U.S. from her detention at Ben Gurion Airport.

Al-Qasem, you may remember, is the American student who, in various capacities, has led efforts to boycott Israel. She had somehow managed to get a student visa at the Israeli consulate in Miami to come and supposedly study at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem for a year–but was stopped at the airport upon her arrival here.

Yesterday, the court was treated to the unseemly spectacle of lawyers for the Hebrew University in Jerusalem fighting for her deportation order to be rescinded. Fortunately, the judge did not buy what they were selling.

After the decision, the University issued this absurd announcement:

The Hebrew University regrets the rejection of the appeal of the student Lara Al-Qassem, who entered Israel to study law at the the University. We believe that the government decision . . . harms the efforts of the universities in Israel to attract students and researchers from abroad.

Your humble servant has to shake his head in disbelief. If students and researchers from abroad are made afraid to come here because they have been supporting boycott efforts against Israel, then that is good.

Let them stay home!
