The News On The Israeli Street

The newest “balloon” from Gaza . . .

Published on the Hamas website yesterday.

The impact of Jamal Khashoggi’s death on Israel . . .

Reports out of Saudi Arabia today indicate that the government arrested 18 people close to Prince Mohammed bin Salman last night and fired two of his closest advisers, the deputy intelligence chief and the royal court adviser.

Further reports suggest that Salman himself may be on the figurative chopping block with his father now looking to replace him as the heir to the throne.

It goes without saying that Prince Salman–close friend of Jared Kushner–is at the heart of the Trump Peace Plan for Israel and the Palestinians.

It was he along with President Sisi of Egypt who was supposed to work a magical change in the way the Arab world perceived Israel. And it was he who went along with the Trump Administration’s hard line vis a vis the Palestinians.

With Salman off the stage and his father back in charge, one can expect the initiatives begun by the Prince to be rolled back if not abandoned all together.

Where that leaves President Trump’s peace plan is unknown.

Al-Qasem’s lies revealed . . .

Shortly after Israel’s High Court of In-Justice made its abhorrent decision to admit BDS activist Lara Al-Qasem into Israel yesterday, photos turned up online revealing how she and her lawyers lied to the Court (not that it would have made any difference to the leftist Justices).

Remember how she claimed that she had turned over a new page in life? Her lawyers specifically claimed that she had had nothing to do with Students for Justice in Palestine since April of last year.

Here’s one picture taken 5 months later–in September of last year–showing Al-Qasem at a SJP election event:

The news on the Iranian fronts . . .

To the east:

Iran is in the process of shipping 22 million barrels of oil to Dalian China in advance of the new American sanctions which are going into effect on November 1st.

In a normal month, Iran ships between 1 and 3 million barrels to the refineries at Dalian–which are then refined and shipped out to locations in China, South Korea, and elsewhere in Asia.

To the west:

Iran has just shipped advanced systems to improve the accuracy of missiles to Hezbollah.

No Rules Change: Israel Sings The Praises of Hamas

It was just 36 hours ago that Security Cabinet Minister Yoav Galant uttered these words:

“The rules of the game are about to change. We will no longer accept the terror of fire and the terror of fences.”

Following this declaration, Israel moved armored personnel carriers and tanks to Gaza border in anticipation of yet another explosion of Palestinian violence.

So what happened?

Palestinians detonating a bomb at the security fence yesterday.

More than 10,000 Hamas foot soldiers attacked the fence again planting bombs, and throwing IEDs, grenades, and Molotovs at our soldiers. In one instance, the fence was breached and terrorists ended up in Israel.

A huge fire last night at the entrance to Kibbutz Sa’ad.

Four fires were started by incendiary devices launched by Palestinian terrorists in Gaza. The worst was the one at Kibbutz Sa’ad.

What was the IDF reaction to all of this?

AT 7:55 pm, the IDF spokesman issued this press release:

IDF Spokesperson 19:55

In the past hour, some 10,000 participants have dispersed from the violent disturbances along the fence in the Gaza Strip.

Unlike previous weeks, most of the rioters remained deep and did not try to reach the fence. Hamas acted to restrain itself.

There were still several incidents of explosive charges, grenades, crossover attempts and various terrorist attempts. IDF forces acted to thwart them. This is not a situation we are prepared to accept, it is expected that terrorism will stop.

“Hamas acted to restrain itself.”

Can you believe it? We now have the IDF singing the praises of Hamas.

“This is not a situation we are prepared to accept . . .”

Yet once again, this is precisely what Israel and the IDF did–accepted the situation.

” . . . it is expected that terrorism will stop.”

What a sad joke.

In short, there is no rules change. PM Netanyahu and IDF Chief Eizenkot will not act proactively to protect Israeli citizens living on the border or Israeli soldiers serving on the border. In fact, not only did they not act proactively yesterday, they did not react at all.
