The News on the Israeli Street

Israel moves to solidify sovereignty over Area C . . .

In a dramatic move today which can only be construed as a precursor to annexation of Area C (or at least parts of it), Defense Minister Naftali Bennett announced that he has approved creation of 7 new nature reserves in Judea and Samaria and has expanded 12 existing ones.

The seven new areas are: Ariel Cave, Nahal Og, Wadi Malcha, South Jordan River, Bitronot, Nahal Tirza, Arvot Hayarden, and Rotem Maskiot. The 12 existing ones are: Matzok Ha’atakim, Nahal Kana, Sartaba, Petza’el, Um Zuka, Einot Tzukim, Haruba, Salvadora Persica, Gadir Mountain, Kane Vasmar, Wadi Malcha Marsh, and Qumran.

As I have already said, this is a dramatic step that was underscored by this statement from Bennett: “Today significantly strengthens the Land of Israel and the continued development of Jewish communities in Area C. By deeds, not by words. In Judea and Samaria, there are many nature sites with stunning views and, among them, we will be expanding existing nature reserves and opening up new ones as well. I invite all citizens of Israel to get up and walk around the country, to come to Judea and Samaria, go on hikes there, and discover for yourselves the beauty of our continuously expanding Zionist enterprise.”

Congratulations South Dakota! . . .

Governor Noem signing the anti-BDS order yesterday in Pierre, South Dakota.

Yesterday, South Dakota became the 28th U.S. state to take action to stop state agencies from engaging in business with companies and contractors that support the BDS boycott of Israel.

While some states have taken legislative action, the South Dakota decision came in the form of an executive order signed by Governor Kristi Noem.

Kolakevod South Dakota!

TODAY’S BLOG:

Southern Israel Under Attack Again

Where the missile attacks took place this afternoon.

Where the missile attacks took place this afternoon.

At 3:23 pm this afternoon–just as the school day was over and children were going homePalestinian terrorists in Gaza fired a barrage of missiles at Nahal Oz, Kibbutz Saad, and Kfar Aza. The IDF reported that 4 missiles were fired and 2 were intercepted. However, residents on the ground reported that 6 missiles were fired and 3 were intercepted.

Regardless of how many were fired, 10,000 southern Israelis were forced to run to their bomb shelters and who knows how many of them will need to be treated for trauma.

And, as usual, our government–which continually swears that it will defend the people of the south–did nothing.

At the same time as the missile fire, there were numerous Molotov, IED, and grenade attacks taking place at the border fence, and dozens more explosive “balloons” were being launched into southern Israel and have already set areas on fire.

All of which raises the question: “Isn’t there supposed to be a “ceasefire” with Hamas?” Of course there is but who cares.

Certainly not anyone in the government or the IDF. PM Netanyahu is too busy worrying about his immunity, and the IDF only cares about the northern border. In fact we can count on spokesmen from the government and the IDF spokesman jumping through hoops in a few hours to explain to us why Hamas was not responsible for the missiles, the fence, or the “balloons.”

It is utterly pathetic.
