A beautiful red "poppy" in southern Israel this morning.

A beautiful red “poppy” in southern Israel this morning.

Despite the explosive balloons and constant missile attacks, thousands of Israelis are making their way south today to revel in the annual “Red Festival” featuring wild red poppies growing everywhere.

The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

Along the Gaza border:

The IDF spokesman would have us believe that the last 24 hours have been an extremely quiet period along the border. Why does the IDF want us to believe this nonsense?

Simple. The IDF General Command wants to justify its absurd decision today to relax goods moving into Gaza and to expand the fishing range from 10 to 15 kilometers.

But this assertion of “quiet” could not be further from the truth.

At 8:10 this evening, incoming missile sirens sounded in the area around Kissufim. At least two missiles struck “open spaces” near the community.

And all day long, explosive balloons continued being launched into southern Israel with Hamas even releasing photographs of staging areas:

More than this, it has not only been the Gaza border that has seen the balloons. The following photo was taken today of an explosive cluster high above your humble servant’s home city of Ashdod–about 40 km from the border:

You must look closely to make out the balloon cluster between the words "explosive" and "balloons."

In Judea and Samaria:

There have been violent clashes between Palestinian terrorists and our forces in numerous locations such as Deir Nizam, Nabi Saleh, and Kfar Kadima.

An IDF soldier was wounded in yet another incident in Budrus near Ramallah.

More good news from Syria . . .

It turns out that the Israeli raid on an Iranian base near Damascus two nights ago claimed a second Revolutionary Guard general in addition to General Hajj Hussein.

The second general has been identified as Ridai Mahmadi who was the commander of Revolutionary Guards in Damascus.

We can expect more attacks like this one in the near future because Israel now believes that Russia is incapable of controlling Iranian moves in Syria.

Election billboards taken down in Tel Aviv . . .

The supposedly offensive billboard.

The supposedly offensive billboard.

The billboards in question are the one above. Apparently put up by a group called Victory Israel, the billboard reads that “victory only comes when our enemies are defeated.”

That message would seem to be obvious.

However, left-wing Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai ordered them taken down saying that they “incite violence” and are reminiscent of “Nazi propaganda.”

Unbelievable.

In any case, the Victory Israel group is appealing  the removals to the Supreme Court.

TODAY’S BLOG:

2022, 2023, 2024: Who Knows When The Netanyahu Trial Might End?

Now that PM Netanyahu has been formally indicted, the State Prosecutor’s Office issued a statement yesterday saying that it expects that the trial will last a minimum of two years.

Yes, two years.

At a minimum.

And it hasn’t even started yet.

And Netanyahu’s defense attorneys have yet to weigh in.

The truth is that we could be looking at a trial that goes on indefinitely. All we know for sure is that the first part of the trial will be devoted to Case 1000 (aka the “cigars and champagne” case).

Can you even imagine a trial going on for years and years?

We should all get used to the idea.
