Monday/Tuesday Breaking News: Missile Terror on the Gaza Border

UPDATE 12:00 AM Tuesday

Another mini-war on the Gaza border has apparently come and gone. Yet another (how many times has this happened?) Egyptian mediated ceasefire took place 30 minutes ago.

This comes after Palestinian terrorists unleashed more barrages on southern communities with the last one coming exactly one hour ago at 11:00 pm at Nahal Oz. All told, OneIsrael counts 112 missiles and mortars fired at our communities over the last 36 hours.

Once again, Islamic Jihad and Hamas have laid bare Israel’s complete vulnerability to missile attack. The basic question remains: if we cannot stop the terrorists in Gaza from launching missiles at Israel, what in the world is going to happen when Hezbollah and other Iranian proxies fire tens of thousands of missiles at one time?

Once again, the citizens of southern Israel have been shown to be nothing more than missile fodder to our pusillanimous government. And once again, the citizens of the South will hold a utterly useless protest tomorrow about the lack of government action.

Once again, the IDF General Command has been shown to be woefully unprepared. Not only did we hear Defense Minister Bennett talking about having to “make a plan” to deal with the missile fire, but also we have just found out that the IDF apparently ran short of interceptor missiles for the Iron Dome batteries and is rushing to restock supplies.

Your humble servant says the same thing after every one of these mini-wars: the government and the IDF General Command should hang their heads in shame. No citizens of any country should be forced to live in the conditions that southern Israelis are made to.

UPDATE 8:00 PM Monday

Missile barrages totaling 11 missiles in the last two hours since our last update:

6:57 pm: Eshkol Region

6:26 pm: Chof Ashkelon

6:02 pm: Kissufim

Finally, we are beginning to go after some of the terrorists in Gaza. A terrorist (or terrorists) on a motorcycle Deir El Balah have been eliminated in a helicopter missile attack.

Businesses in central and northern Israel are how offering free services to residents of the South.

The photo causing idiotic howls of protest . . .

When the IDF killed the two terrorists on the border the other day, we sent a bulldozer out to recover one of the bodies (the other was carried away by other terrorists). The reason we sent a bulldozer was that terrorists were still in the area and firing at our soldiers.

Here is the photo:

This was an armored bulldozer that was fired upon during the recovery operation.

This was the armored bulldozer that was fired upon during the recovery operation. Obviously, you can see the dead terrorist’s body in the scoop of the bulldozer.

So-called human rights organizations in Israel and elsewhere have condemned the IDF for not giving “dignity to the dead”.

Not giving dignity to the dead? Since when does a terrorist attempting to kill Israelis deserve even an ounce of dignity?

Would it have been more dignified to leave him out there to rot?

“We have turned to calm; it is too complex to embark on a wide-scale operation [against Gaza] a week before the election . . . We do not want a broad campaign, but we are preparing a plan, and if there is no choice, we will launch a tough attack.”

Defense Minister Naftali Bennett, speaking in southern Israel this afternoon

So now, our citizens can be relentlessly attacked and nothing can be done about it because of the election?

And “we are preparing a plan?” What a joke. How many times in the last decade have we been through this before–and we are supposed to believe that the IDF doesn’t yet have a plan.

Incredible.

Since noon, 13 more missile barrages totaling more than 37 missiles have hit southern Israel:

5:41 pm: Nirim

5:26 pm: Nirim

5:14 pm: Ashkelon, Yad Mordechai, Zikim

5:01 pm: Nirim, Ein HaShlosha, Sderot

Meanwhile, the usual efforts are being made via Egypt and the United Nations to stop the attacks from Gaza, so far to no avail. The IAF continues striking Islamic Jihad targets in Gaza.

Southern Israel is essentially closed down.

There were no schools today in Ashkelon, Chof Ashkelon, Negev Regional Council, Netivot, Eshkol Regional Council, Sdot Negev Regional Council, and Ofakim.

According to the IDF spokesman, “the IDF has ordered blockages of areas and roads adjacent to the Gaza perimeter fence. The areas and roads that are blocked are all agricultural access routes west of Road 232. In addition, both roads will also be closed from Road 4 from Zikim Junction to the entrance to Kibbutz Nir Am, Road 34 from Yad Mordechai to The access road to Kibbutz Erez and Route 232 from the Levelsim junction to the Kfar Gaza junction, as well as the entrance to Kobe Hill in Sderot, the Black Arrow Memorial, the Bell Bell, the Nezmite Hill and the Lone Horseshoe Hill, were also closed to visitors.”

We will continue with updates today as warranted . . .
