When Will Israel Proudly Assert Its Sovereignty Over The Temple Mount?

UPDATES

9:00 am Israel time, Wednesday, September 16 2015

**The daily (between 7:45 pm last night and 1 am this morning) Palestinian terror report . . .

–>At 1 am this morning, Palestinian terrorists in Gaza fired three missiles at the citizens of southern Israel. According to the IDF, which should never be believed about missile fire, the missiles hit in the Deir Al Balah neighborhood of Gaza.

–>Molotov cocktails were thrown by Palestinian terrorists at Israelis at Rachel’s Tomb at 11:39 pm (one terrorist was shot); at Itamar at 11:19 pm, at Beit Orot in Jerusalem (9:32 pm), in Ras Al-Amud (9:31 pm), and in the Shuafat area of Jerusalem (7:45 pm).

–>”Rock” attacks were carried out by Palestinian terrorists at Har Bracha–a soldier was wounded (10:43 pm), at the Jerusalem Light Rail, smashing windows and traumatizing passengers (9:58 pm), and in Silwan (8:13 pm).

–>IEDs and pipe bombs were thrown at Israelis in Qalandia (8:29 pm), and at Rachel’s Tomb (7:46 pm).

–>The most widely reported violence yesterday occurred on the Temple Mount where 5 Israeli police officers were wounded by “rocks”, metal bars, incendiary devices, and other projectiles thrown by terrorists (see today’s blog).

–>To show you how ridiculously dangerous the situation has become in Jerusalem, a demonstration urging police action against terrorists was held last night under the auspices of the Jerusalem police at the spot where Alexander Levlovitch was killed by “rock” throwing Palestinian terrorists two nights ago.

Despite a heavy police presence, the demonstrators and the police were attacked by more “rock” throwing terrorists–none of whom were captured and arrested.

TODAY’S BLOG:

Regular readers of israelstreet know that this blog has been talking about Palestinian terrorism for years. We have carefully documented how the situation has gone from bad to worse in Judea, Samaria, and eastern Jerusalem. We have maintained from the outset that the problems begin on the Har HaBeit (Temple Mount) in Jerusalem.

Because Israel has allowed Muslims–in the form of the Jordanian government and its minion the Islamic Wakf–to take over the holiest place in Judaism, the level of violence has increased exponentially. Israel has surrendered its sovereignty over the Mount in every conceivable way, from the rebuilding of the Mughrabi ramp leading to the Mount to restricting hours for Jews on the Mount. A Jew cannot carry a Torah to the Mount, bow his or her head on the Mount, sing a song on the Mount, pray on the Mount, carry a bottle of water to the Mount, hold an Israeli flag on the Mount, or any one of a thousand other activities.

As this craven surrender of sovereignty has taken place, Muslim gangs have stepped in to fill the vacuum. Hired men and women thugs whose only job is to intimidate the Israel police into closing down the Mount to Jews now run the Mount like a mini-Caliphate roaming the area looking for Jews to attack. Since the beginning of this year, the Israeli government has stood by and watched the growth of these groups and done absolutely nothing (even agreeing to some 200 new Wakf police this week!).

The Wakf has been carrying out wholesale destruction of the Mount for years in an to obliterate all history of Jewish presence on the Mount. Hundreds of truckloads of dirt from under the Al-Aksa Mosque and Dome of the Rock has been dug up and unceremoniously dumped in the Kidron Valley. The Israeli government stands by and watches this raping of our history–and does absolutely nothing to stop it.

Every week sees demonstrations on the Mount organized by Hamas, PLO, and even IS supporters take place–festooned with Hamas, PLO, IS and flags!

Islamic State on the Temple Mount--an area of supposedly complete Israeli sovereignty.

Islamic State on the Temple Mount–an area of supposedly complete Israeli sovereignty. And you wonder why there is such violence on the Temple Mount, in Jerusalem, and in Judea and Samaria?

And who appears at these demonstrations and in daily sermons at Al-Aksa? Radically vicious imams who incite jihad against Israelis on a grand scale–even to the point of inciting against Jewish synagogues in the Jewish Quarter. In doing so, they are egged on by a Jordanian government that eagerly wants to extend its tentacles outward from the Mount. And again, the Israeli government stands by and watches this abominable incitement and does absolutely nothing to stop it.

But our government does not merely do nothing to stop it, it also unbelievably encourages this attack on our sovereignty. It actually buses in Muslims from all over Israel and Gaza on every conceivable Muslim holiday (1,000,000 Muslims were bused in during this past Ramadan alone); it rarely if ever arrests terrorists on the Mount who attack Jews or even those who regularly set fire to the Israeli police headquarters on the Mount; it trembles in fear at every Jordanian threat and demand (did you see King Abdullah’s  absurd threats yesterday during his media moment with British PM David Cameron?).

So, fast forward to last night.

After three days of unremitting terrorist attacks on the Mount, the Netanyahu government finally met now that our vaunted Prime Minister says that he can finally “see” the problem.

What came out of that meeting was absolutely nothing.

It was decided that:

1. The rules of engagement on the Mount and in Jerusalem will be examined.

2. A new law delineating “minimum sentences” for terrorist “rock” and Molotov cocktail throwers will be developed.

3. A new law specifying “high fines” for parents of juvenile offenders will be developed.

4. More policemen and Border Guards will be put on the Mount.

Hooey, hooey, and more unadulterated hooey.

Nothing will change on the Temple Mount or in Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria until a sea change takes place in government policy–a sea change which proudly asserts Israeli sovereignty over these areas.

Not until an Israeli flag is once again flying proudly over the Temple Mount will the situation improve.*

*Note that the last time an Israeli flag flew over the Temple Mount was just after the Har HaBeit was taken by Jewish paratroopers in June of 1967.
