–>Palestinian terror.

The terrorist who butchered Dafna Meir (see yesterday’s blog) in Otniel by stabbing her in the head and upper torso has unfortunately been captured alive by Israel’s elite Duvdevan counter-terrorism unit. 16-year-old Murad Adais was captured while asleep at his home in Yatta beside Otniel.

Numerous terrorists have come from Yatta, and undoubtedly a road and school in the Palestinian settlement will be named for Adais this morning.

The other Israeli woman stabbed yesterday, Michal Forman, was remarkably interviewed at Sha’are Zedek hospital today with bandages covering the stab wounds in her neck and back.

Elsewhere in Israel, five attacks have taken place on the Jerusalem Light Rail Train today on the section of track between Shuafat and Beit Hanina. In each case, the train was damaged and passengers were traumatized. Why the Jerusalem police cannot stop these attacks–which occur everyday–remains a mystery to us all.

This morning, Palestinian terrorists were captured near the Tapuach Junction with Uzi machine guns. To show you how ridiculous things have become, the police reported that the terrorists were “lightly armed.”

–>Good news. Israeli unemployment remains low. Very low.

On the following graph produced by the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development), you can see that Israel’s long-term unemployment rate as a percentage of total unemployed is lower than any other country in the OECD except for Mexico and Korea.

Actually, given the events swirling about Israel, this is a remarkable achievement. By the way, note the countries with the worst long-term unemployment: Greece, Slovakia, and South Africa (ZAF).

–>Even more good news. More gas has been discovered off the coast of Israel. Much more.

As you can see from the map below, a new “Daniel” field, marked “Daniel////” has been discovered along the maritime border with Gaza (thanks to Elder of Ziyon for the overall map.

The estimated amount of natural gas is 8.9 trillion cu ft. This would make Daniel roughly the same size as Tamar, and 1/3 the size of Leviathan.

TODAY’S BLOG:

U.S. Ambassador to Israel Dan Shapiro speaking yesterday at the INSS conference. With "friends" like Shapiro, who needs enemies?

An arrogant U.S. Ambassador to Israel Dan Shapiro speaking yesterday at the INSS conference. With “friends” like Shapiro, who needs enemies?

If there was ever an example of an egregiously anti-Israel speech delivered by a U.S. Ambassador to Israel at a grossly insensitive moment, the one given by U.S. Ambassador to Israel Dan Shapiro yesterday at the INSS (Institute for National Security Studies in Tel Aviv)  conference may take the cake.

On a day which had seen murderous Palestinian stabbings of Israeli women, shooting attacks on Israeli soldiers and civilians, and tens of “rock” and Molotov attacks, Shapiro took to the podium at INSS and ranted this:

“Too many attacks on Palestinians lack a vigorous investigation or response by Israeli authorities; too much vigilantism goes unchecked; and at times there seem to be two standards of adherence to the rule of law: one for Israelis and another for Palestinians. Hovering over all of these questions is the larger one about Israel’s political strategy vis a vis its conflict with the Palestinians. What is Israel’s plan for resolving the conflict?”

What in the world is Shapiro talking about?

Lack of vigorous investigation and response? What about the ridiculous investigation into the Duma arson? What about prosecutions of IDF personnel for merely defending themselves? What about…what about…what about?

“Two standards of adherence to the rule of law?” One for Israelis and another for Palestinians? So, now the Obama Administration is reduced to accusing Israel of apartheid.

“What is Israel’s plan for resolving the conflict?” Israel has made offer after offer to the Palestinians–all of which have been rejected by the PLO. Don’t the Palestinians have any responsibility for resolving the conflict?

Not according to Shapiro–or the Obama Administration that he speaks for.

With friends like Shapiro and the Obama Administration, who needs enemies?
