UPDATE 10:00 AM ISRAEL TIME

The View from Ashdod

By way of context, you probably know that one never used to hear aircraft overhead on Shabbat.

Until October of last year.

Last night, we had waves of aircraft overhead going both north toward Lebanon and south toward Gaza. Coupled with the latter were more huge concussive blasts from Gaza.

The War in the North

The IDF Spokesman:

“Air Force fighter jets have attacked and destroyed, under the direction of the Northern Command, more than 45 launchers of the terrorist organization Hezbollah throughout southern Lebanon, from which launches were made towards several areas in the country’s territory, as well as ready-to-fire launchers that were aimed at the country’s territory. In addition, the launchers from which the launches were carried out towards Nahariya yesterday and towards the Bay of Haifa area during the night were attacked and destroyed.”

Yesterday we suggested reasons for the dramatic decrease in Hezbollah fire the day before including IAF destruction of launchers. We hoped it signaled a trend in the war. However, despite the striking of launchers mentioned above, here is a list of Hezbollah missile and drone attacks yesterday:

22:40 Rosh HaNikra; 21:11 Akko; 21:10 Ben Ami; 21:07 Ziv Bridge; 16:46 Asher, Ma’ale Yosef; 16:43 Haifa, Carmel; 16:30 Nahariya; 15:45 Ma’ale Yosef; 15:35 Shafram; 15:24 Tzfat; 14:54 Yeftah; 14:32 Tel Hai, Kiryat Shmona; 14:24 Shnir; 14:05 Tzfat; 13:55 Metulla; 13:35 Zerait; 12:42 Shatula; 12:40 Margalit, Metulla; 09:59 Metulla; 02:59 Haifa, Kiryat Yam, Kiryat Biyalik, Kiryat Motzkin.

Some 80 missiles and drones struck Israel20 of them in the barrages between 16:30 and 16:43.

28 more drones attacked IDF forces operating in southern Lebanon at El-Hayam in what Hezbollah called the largest drone attack on IDF forces since the beginning of the war.

*In addition to the operations at El-Hayam, the IDF bombed and cut off the road between Marj Ein and Nabatia. Artillery bombardments began on the villages near Beaufort..

*In the western sector, the IDF continues advancing towards the Hezbollah stronghold of Nakura from the east of the city and south of the city. The city is practically cut off from the siege after the IDF surrounded it from the north in the direction of Kfar Shema.

*The IDF began a large scale attack on Bint Jbeil in southern Lebanon yesterday.

*The IAF hit an area in central Beirut with bunker busting bombs without warning early this morning at 04:36. Israel media is reporting this morning that the target of the elimination in Beirut was Talal Hamieh, head of Hezbollah’s External Security Organization known as Unit 910 in charge of overseeing operations abroad.

*The IAF eliminated senior Hezbollah leader Ali Musa Dakduk in Syria last night. Dakduk was responsible for many attacks including one in which 5 American soldiers were killed in Karbala Iraq in 2007.

*In another IAF attack in Syria yesterday, 94 members of pro-Iranian proxies were killed in Tammor: 61 were Syrians, 27 were foreigners, and 4 were members of Hezbollah. The non-Hezbollah terrorists were members of the al-Nujba terror group who had crossed into Syria from Iraq.

On the Ground in Gaza

The IDF Spokesman:

“Division 162 continues to operate in the Jabaliya region. In recent weeks, the forces have eliminated many terrorists along with destroying terrorist infrastructure, locating weapons and denying Hamas capabilities.

In the activity of the armored forces of the 401st Army, terrorists were eliminated and terrorist infrastructures were destroyed by closing circuits and precise attacks.

The engineering forces carry out raids and engineering operations to locate and destroy terrorist detectors, trapped buildings and neutralize explosive sites in the area. So far, about 300 buildings have been located and neutralized, which the enemy captured with hundreds of charges as ambushes for the troops.”

Here at OneIsrael we wonder why are we going house by house to eliminate booby-trapped buildings in a hellhole like Jabaliya? Shouldn’t we just bomb the houses out of existence?

On the Ground in Judea and Samaria

Yesterday, Defense Minister Israel Katz made an astonishingly wonderful announcement which takes us one more step toward Israeli sovereignty over Area C of Judea and Samaria.

He ordered Israel’s Shin Bet security services and the IDF to immediately stop the use of administrative arrest warrants against Jewish community members in Judea and Samaria.

Let’s repeat that.

No more administrative arrest warrants for Jews living in Judea and Samaria.

In short, Jews living in Judea and Samaria are to be treated like Israelis living everywhere else.

You may have been unaware of the fact that the Shin Bet and IDF have long used administrative arrest detentions to go after young Jewish nationalists. Those detentions have been for days, months, and even years. What is even worse is that the Shin Bet has used the time in detentions as a time when false confessions can be tortured out of those detained.

In issuing his order, Katz declared: “In a reality where the Jewish settlement in Judea and Samaria is subject to serious Palestinian terrorist threats and unjustified international sanctions are taken against settlers, it is not appropriate for the State of Israel to exercise a serious measure of this kind against the people of these communities.”

OneIsrael has one thing to say: Kolakevod to Katz for ending a hideous discrimination against those living in Judea and Samaria!

On this happy note, we wish our soldiers and you dear readers:

Shabbat Shalom!
