UPDATES 7 pm Israel time:

…Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours…

There have been more than 40 Palestinian terror attacks.

A bus was attacked with “rocks” on Road 443 near the Dor Alon gas station; another bus was struck with a Molotov firebomb in Gush Etzion; and more Molotovs were thrown in Pisgat Zeev igniting a number of fires.

“Rock” attacks were launched at such locations as Silwan, Tuba al Garbia, Anata, Husan, Malik, Yabad, and Mevo Dolan. Full-scale riots targeting security personnel took place at Jabel Mukaber, Qalqilya, Bir Zeit, Basooiya, and Modi’in Illit.

Some of the worst attacks took place near Hawara where three Israelis from the Yitzhar community were wounded in separate assaults.

A total of five attacks took place there yesterday prompting the head of Yitzhar to declare:

“This is an unbearable reality that must be stopped immediately. We are aware of and appreciate the efforts and the operational activities of the Samaria Brigade, but throwing stones continues almost unabated in an ongoing attempt to murder Jews. The IDF should impose a curfew immediately on any village from which terrorists come after each such incident.”

…So much for Defense Minister Lieberman…

Despite the ouster of Moshe Ya’alon as Defense Minister, the destruction of Jewish community homes in the Judea, Samaria, and Binyamin areas of Israel continues under new Defense Minister Lieberman.

At 4:40 am this morning, the police and Civil Administration arrived at Maoz Esther and destroyed residential buildings and a synagogue. Later, they moved on to Maoz Zion and Givat Assaf and did the same thing.

Instead of protecting Jewish communities, the police and Civil Administration continue destroying homes and synagogues.

The scene this morning: instead of protecting Jewish communities, the police and Civil Administration continue destroying homes and synagogues.

Ironically, this destruction comes a day after former Likud legislator Gideon Sa’ar blasted the government for doing little to stop the massive illegal Palestinian construction taking place throughout the Jordan Valley.

…An interesting real estate transaction…

Following a protracted three year negotiation, the municipality of Tel Aviv signed a real estate agreement with the state of Israel today.

According to the terms of the agreement, Tel Aviv has purchased from the State:

*the port of Tel Aviv

*the Old Jaffa Development Corporation which includes the port of Jaffa

*various coastal holdings near the ports which are home to numerous restaurants and entertainment venues

On the other hand, the municipality sold its 50% holding in the Ayalon Highway that runs through the city, and settled long-standing leasing disputes it had with the Israel Lands Authority.

Overall, in terms of money, the municipality will pay 350 million shekels to the Israel Lands Authority and another 243 million shekels for the ports and coastal strip.

TODAY’S BLOG:

The statement speaks for itself.

Yesterday, the White House released a six-page  “Statement of Administration Policy” concerning H.R. 5293, the Department of Defense Appropriations Act.

The one-sentence opening paragraph sets out the Administration position:

“The Administration strongly opposes House passage of H.R. 5293, making appropriations for the Department of Defense for the fiscal year (FY) ending September 30, 2017, and for other purposes.”

As the document proceeds, the reasons for the strident opposition are numerous: the House effort to keep Guantanamo Bay open, the House effort to prevent the scrapping of naval vessels, the House effort to restore the Tenth Navy Carrier Air Wing and so on.

You can read the entire statement here.

Not surprisingly, given President Obama’s animus against Israel, the only country singled out in the entire document is Israel.

In a one-paragraph section titled “Missile Defense Programs”, the Obama White House objects to various missile spending reductions and then drops this bombshell in the last sentence:

“Furthermore, the Administration opposes the addition of $455 million above the FY 2017 Budget request for Israeli missile defense procurement and cooperative development programs.”

Say what?

By juxtaposing the opposition to missile spending reductions with opposition to an additional $455 million for Israeli missile defense, the Administration clearly implies that the House wants to sacrifice U.S. missile defenses in favor of Israeli missile defense.

Of course this is patently untrue–and is nothing more than yet another disingenuous attempt to undermine Israel.

In the end, whether Israel receives the additional funds will depend on whether the Congress votes for the additional funds and whether Obama signs it.

He has already promised a veto.

Thank you President Obama, again.
