This morning comes the astonishing news that the IDF is preparing to accept Syrian refugees onto the Golan Heights.
Benny Gantz, the IDF’s irresponsible, do-nothing Chief of Staff, had this to say in front of the Defense and Foreign Affairs Committee of the Knesset: “The day the Assad regime falls, this is expected to hurt the Alawite sect. We are preparing to take in Alawite refugees on the Golan Heights.”
The IDF is preparing to take in Alawite refugees on the Golan Heights? Is this some kind of sick joke? In Syria we have the Alawite Assad family who has preached nothing but the need for Syria to retake the Golan Heights for almost 45 years. It is the Alawite Bashir Assad that sent hundreds of demonstrators across the Golan border just months ago (some of the demonstrators made it as far as Tel Aviv–riding on IDF buses!–and others were apparently never captured).
What in the world is Gantz thinking about? Protecting Israel’s borders? Never. Protecting Israeli citizens? Never. Benny Gantz is only thinking about what he always thinks about–himself: becoming a politician on the Israeli ‘left’ when he leaves the IDF and being politically correct.
