**The weekly Palestinian riot at Bilin took place yesterday, aided and abetted as always by Israeli leftists and international lawbreakers. In what has become an absurd Friday fest of photo ops for the international news media, the rioters approached Israeli security officials throwing rocks, burning tires, and anything else they could get their hands on. In return, the IDF, police, and/or Border Guards fired tear gas to disperse the crowds.

**Another two Palestinian mobs have assaulted the Gaza border fence in the last 24 hours–with the result that several Palestinians have been shot. Hamas sources claim that one “civilian’ was killed and several others wounded. The IDF has been unable to confirm the nature of the injuries “suffered” by the Palestinians.

**There was a burst of excitement yesterday on the Israel political scene as it seemed that the “center-left” (actually more “left” than “center”) were getting their act together to join forces against Netanyahu. Badly trailing in the polls, Tzipi Livni called on Shelly Yachimovich (Labor) and Yair Lapid (Yesh Atid–the Torch of the Future) to join her in her effort to unseat the current government. This afternoon, Lapid announced that he would not join such a coalition.

If there is one truism about the Middle East, it is that there is no shortage of stupidity in the countries around Israel or in Israel itself.

*In the last two days we have seen a Saudi Arabian man arrested in Mecca and declared mentally unstable–because he declared that he wanted to marry “a Jewish woman”. Apparently, that was enough to have him carted off to the local insane asylum. In Lebanon, a shopper noticed that a package of “Israeli” peppers was on the shelf of a local supermarket. Immediately the troops were called in; 13 packages of “infiltrators” were captured, and the supermarket owner was arrested.

*On a more serious but no less stupid note, 24-year-old Iranian Jew Daniel Magrufta, the son of a wealthy, well-known businessman, decided some months ago that he would begin dating the Muslim daughter of a member of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards. It was announced yesterday that he was murdered last week. The main suspect, his new girlfriend, was reportedly told by Iranian investigators: “if you were involved in killing a Jew, you did a good deed.” She was subsequently released.

By the way, at least one Jew per month is murdered in Iran. Why any Jew would be stupid enough to remain in Iran is beyond your humble servant’s comprehension.

*Moving on around the neighborhood, an interview given by Egyptian President Morsi two years ago has surfaced. Morsi, the darling of President Obama and the West, stupidly had this to say: “Either [you accept] the Zionists and everything they want, or else it is war. This is what these occupiers of the land of Palestine know – these blood-suckers, who attack the Palestinians, these warmongers, the descendants of apes and pigs.”

Your humble servant wonders who is more stupid: Morsi for making such a moronic declaration or Netanyahu for putting the security of southern Israel into such a person’s hands?

*Speaking of Netanyahu and closer to home, we saw the Likud party issuing this “brilliant” statement yesterday: “It is clear that the left is trying to unite to topple Netanyahu.” Really? Is that what the “left” wants to do? Judging from the massive confusion and idiotic strategy that has beset Likud, whoever is running the Likud show should be taken to the same loony farm as the man in Mecca.

*But wait, there is more. In a scene reminiscent of the IDF stupidly telling Hamas during the recent conflict where the Iron Domes had been set up, we had Southern District Police Commander, Major General Yoram Halevy, announcing to the world that the red alarm system for detecting incoming missiles has yet to be connected to the municipal siren system of the city of Eilat.

If this admission wasn’t stupid enough, an IDF spokesman later commented that there is a dispute about whether to have sirens in Eilat or not: “Every passing bird may activate the system, and this will seriously damage the city’s tourist economy.”

Every passing bird? One would think that tourists and residents alike would like to know when they are about to be hit by a rocket.

*Finally, there is the stupid story of how the stupid PLO became the stupid “State of Palestine” last night . . . but we will take up that in tomorrow’s israelstreet blog.
