UPDATE 6 pm Israel time Friday:
Yet another horrific incident of “rock” throwing this afternoon in Samaria. A pregnant Israeli woman driving near B’nei Shomron was attacked by Palestininan terrorists and wounded.
At the same time, the usual crowd of international lawbreakers, Israeli leftists, and Palestinian terrorists were out in force at Bil’in a few hours ago assaulting Israeli security personnel with “rocks”, burning tires, and other projectiles.
TODAY’S BLOG:
We live in an Orwellian world in which black is white and terrorists are “human rights” activists. It is a world in which people are alternately craven, historically illiterate, anti-Semitic, and/or just plain stupid.
For our collective edification today, your humble servant offers up a few examples of the above people–by reference to quotations they have made.
1. Let’s begin with the nauseatingly craven. As you know, the Bulgarian government has just released a report that Iran’s proxy Hezbollah was behind the terrorist attack that killed and wounded Israeli tourists in Burgas.
Consider these comments from Europeans yesterday as to whether the European Union should now list Hezbollah as a terrorist organization:
“There is a need for a reflection over the outcome of the investigation.”
Catherine Ashton, the European Union baroness buffoon and Foreign Minister (devoted to the Middle East)
“There is no automatic listing just because you have been behind a terrorist attack.”
Gilles de Kerchove, E.U. Counter-terrorism Coordinator
“There’s the overall fear if we’re too noisy about this, Hezbollah might strike again, and it might not be Israeli tourists this time.”
Sylke Tempel, Editor of the German magazine Internationale Politik
Let’s see, do we have this Orwellian nonsense straight? Just because Hezbollah carried out a terrorist attack against innocent civilians does not make Hezbollah a terrorist organization? And, oh by the way, we wouldn’t want to do anything that might cause Hezbollah to kill anyone except Israelis!
Absolutely pathetic.
Speaking of pathetic, how about this remark from Gholamreza Bageri, Iranian ambassador to Bulgaria:
“The Burgas attack had nothing to do with Iran. We are against any form of terrorism and strongly condemn such actions.”
Of course, what Iran has preposterously claimed all along is that Israel killed the Israelis in Bulgaria–a claim it repeated two days ago.
As everyone knows, Iran is the chief fomenter of terrorism in the world today. From Iranian Revolutionary Guards carrying out massacres in Syria–to Iranian bases throughout South America and Africa operated through its proxy Hezbollah–to a boat intercepted in Yemen this week loaded with terrorist weapons, the Iranian attack in Bulgaria was just one in a litany of Iranian terrorist attacks.
2. Let’s move from the craven and pathetic to the historically illiterate and stupid. What about these comments made by British MP David Ward in London last week on the occasion of a memorial book honoring the victims of the Holocaust:
“I am saddened that the Jews, who suffered unbelievable levels of persecution during the Holocaust, could within a few years of liberation from the death camps be inflicting atrocities on Palestinians in the new State of Israel and continue to do so on a daily basis in the West Bank and Gaza.”
The facility with which people such as Ward accuse Israel of Nazi-like atrocities is nothing new–but it always remains shocking when they do. Death camps in “the West Bank and Gaza”? Six million dead in “the West Bank and Gaza”? Who is kidding whom? Ward needs to go back to elementary school for a first grade history lesson.
3. Speaking of the chronically stupid, let’s continue with Bernard Sabella, a member of the Palestinian Parliament:
“Reconciliation between Hamas and Fatah would give the Palestinian people the chance to practice its national right in electing their president, legislative council and so on.”
Excuse me, but who elected the PLO President and Parliament (including Sabella himself)? Who elected the Hamas government in Gaza? What will reconciliation between Hamas and Fatah accomplish? It will accomplish nohting more than the official merging of two terrorist organizations that will in short order become one terrorist organization–Hamas.
4. Let’s end today with a follow-up to our blog of yesterday–and the words of BDS leader Omar Barghouti last night before he entered a room at predominantly Jewish Brooklyn College to which he had been invited to denigrate Israel by the political science department department of the College and the Brooklyn College Students for Justice in Palestine:
“We’re witnessing the rise of a new McCarthyism in this country led by Israel, its lobby groups and defenders of the denial of basic Palestinian rights.”
Barghouti is neither craven nor stupid–but he knows he can depend on those who are. As he knows, the issue at Brooklyn College was never about free speech–it was the bizarre sponsorship of the BDS presentation by the Brooklyn College political science department. The Omar Barghoutis of the world and their craven and stupid accomplices like Catherine Ashton, Gilles d Kerchose, Sylka Tempel, Gholamreza Bageri, the Brooklyn College political science department, and David Ward specialize in throwing out accusations like McCarthyism and ethnic cleansing and occupation and Nazism . . . all of which are picked up and repeated until the world thinks they are really true.
Such is the Orwellian world in which we live.
