Playing Israelis For Fools: Netanyahu And His Concessions

UPDATES 7 pm Israel time Friday:

*More incoming rockets from Palestinian terrorists in Gaza today: one unexploded rocket landed on a beach in Ashdod and had to be defused by IDF sappers. Additional rockets hit the Ramat Negev area of southern Israel this morning. In response to these attacks, the IDF has reopened the Kerem Shalom and Erez crossings. Yes, you read that correctly. 

*Shin Bet has reported today that there have been 33 attempted kidnappings of IDF soldiers since the beginning of this year. By comparison, there were 24 such attempts in all of 2012. Why has there been such a dramatic increase? According to Shin Bet officials, it is because Hamas  is trying to replicate the Gilad Shalit deal.

*A petition of 110 Jordanian parliament members is demanding the release of Ahmad Musatafa Daqamseh, the Jordanian “soldier” who slaughtered 7 Israeli schoolgirls back in 1997 on the Israel-Jordanian border in what has come to be called “The Island of Peace Massacre”. Hussein Mjali, who served as Jordan’s Justice Minister, has called Daqamseh “a hero.”

Daqamseh is currently serving a life sentence in Jordan.

TODAY’S BLOG:

“There will be no more Israeli gestures for peace.”

“There will be no more Israeli land given for peace.”

“There will be no more Israeli concessions to the Palestinians before we go to the negotiating table.”

Each one of these bogus statements has dribbled out of the mouth of PM Benjamin Netanyahu in the last three weeks.

Let’s see . . . we now know that Israel is no longer demanding that the Palestinians recognize Israel as a Jewish nation. And we now know that Israel is planning to release terrorist prisoners from the pre-Oslo days as a sop to PLO head Mahmoud Abbas. 

If these gestures/concessions are not enough, we now have confirmation that Mahmoud Abbas will be getting even more–a de facto freeze on all Israeli construction outside of the main community blocks in Judea and Samaria. 

A senior official in Netanyahu’s inner circle whispered this yesterday: 

“There won’t be a de jure freeze, but quietly, quietly – construction outside the major blocs will be halted in order to resume negotiations. Israel will not make an official declaration but the move will be carried out on the sly as part of understandings between Israel and the US.”

Quietly, quietly? On the sly? As part of understandings between Israel and the U.S.?

Your humble servant can only hope that those involved in the Jewish communities who are now a part of the Netanyahu government will put an end to this charade. It is now time for Naftali Bennett and Uri Ariel to put their money where their mouths are–and stop the Netanyahu subterfuge in Judea and Samaria once and for all.

Benjamin Netanyahu does not represent the United States; he is the Prime Minister of Israel and should stop acting like the lapdog of Barack Obama and John Kerry.
