7:00 pm Israel time:
–>Israelis have had a day of respite (so far) after two days of egregious terror attacks.
Well, sort of.
At 2:00 pm, Palestinian terrorists set fire to the Dor Alon gas station on Route 443 near the Maccabim checkpoint.
At 1:23 pm, a terrorist threw a Molotov at a pedestrian walking near the Jerusalem neighborhood of Jabel Mukaber.
At 1:20 pm, a knife-armed terrorist was captured near Ammunition Hill in Jerusalem.
In the morning, terrorists threw “rocks” at Israelis in vehicles in Beit Einun, Shuafat, and Peduel.
–>Many of the victims of the terror attacks of Tuesday and Wednesday remain in serious to grave condition in Israel hospitals.
One such victim is the wife of Taylor Force, the remarkable American who was tragically murdered in Yaffo.
Israelstreet encourages you to donate to the following site to support Taylor’s family:

–>More than 60 illegal Palestinians in Israel were arrested overnight in what police described as “a crackdown” on such illegals.
This was nothing more than a superficial knee-jerk reaction to the fact that the Yaffo murderer was a Palestinian in the country illegally.
And it comes on a day when former Education Minister Gideon Sa’ar said that there are now more than 100,000 illegal Palestinians in Israel.
You read that correctly.
100,000.
At the rate of 60 per day, it will only take 1,666 days, or 4.5 years, to rid Israel of this problem.
–>The events of the last few days have brought increased scrutiny to Israel’s so-called “Defense” Minister Moshe Ya’alon.
A poll out this morning by the Knesset Channel, shows that:
77% of Israelis believe that the government is not doing enough to stop terrorism.
and when asked who would be the best Defense Minister:
24% said Ya’alon, 24% said Avigdor Lieberman, and 17% said Naftali Bennett.
These latter numbers represent something of a sea change in attitude for an Israeli populace that has always given extremely high approval ratings to Ya’alon–even after the debacle in the 2014 war with Hamas.
–>Construction of a gas pipeline from Israel to Jordan has kicked into high gear.
Currently under construction near Sodom, the pipeline will bring gas from the Tamar gas field to Israel’s neighbor. At least until terrorists on the Jordanian side blow it up.
Scheduled to begin carrying natural gas in 2017, the gas line is supposed to supply 1.8 BCM of natural gas for 15 years, and supply Israel with $15 billion of income.
–>The last few days have seen a bizarre back and forth about Iran’s ballistic missile program.
It all began a couple of months ago when Iran test-fired a new Iranian ballistic missile. Pro-Israel supporters in the U.S. Congress and elsewhere immediately cried out that the missile firing violated the terms of the Democratic party’s Iranian Nuclear Appeasement Agreement.
But nothing could have been further from the truth.
In case you have forgotten, dear reader, one of the most egregious omissions from that Agreement was the Iranian ballistic missile program. Even though Obama had said early in the negotiations that ballistic missiles would be covered, the final version of the treaty contained no such language–a fact that we pointed out at the time here on israelstreet.
So when Josh Earnest proclaimed a couple of days ago from the White House rostrum that the ballistic missile firing was not a violation of the agreement, he was exactly correct.
But no one should forget why Israel and its supporters wanted the Iranian ballistic missile program included.
As Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Aerospace Force Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh said two days ago upon the test-firing of more ballistic missiles:
“Iran has built missiles that can hit targets at 2,000 km. They are designed to hit Israel at such a distance. Israel has been surrounded by Islamic countries and its life is short.”
Thank you President Obama.
Hajizadeh went on to declare: “These Iranian missiles belong to the Palestinian, Lebanese, Syrian and Iraqi nations, as well as all the oppressed people of the world.”
TODAY’S BLOG:
So U.S. Vice-President Joe Biden has left Israel.
But not before going to Ramallah, embracing PLO Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, and offering the Palestinians a new peace agreement.
What did Biden offer them? After a long meeting with PM Netanyahu, Biden marched over to Ramallah and offered Abbas the new Obama peace plan, the same one described last week here on israelstreet.
Specifically, Israel would halt all construction in Judea, Samaria, and eastern Jerusalem, and would even divide Jerusalem in return for the expectation that the Palestinians would recognize Israel as a Jewish state and renounce all claims of return of so-called Palestinian “refugees.”
Of course, Abbas flatly rejected this proposal.
As we all predicted and knew that he would.
And as Netanyahu knew that he would.
But here is the problem. By signing off on Biden making such an outrageous offer concerning a halt to construction and the division of our eternal capital, Netanyahu has indicated to the world that–given the right conditions–Israel would agree to these actions.
And even if the Palestinians have rejected the offer, they and their Arab cohorts will take the construction and division offer as the starting point for any future negotiations.
It is a very dangerous game that Netanyahu is playing–a game that involves the spiritual, geographic, and demographic core of this country.
