The News on the Israel Street

Is U.S. Ambassador David Friedman finally finding his footing? . . .

Here on israelstreet we have been critical of the U.S. Ambassador for seemingly abandoning his principles concerning Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria.

However, an interview in the Jerusalem Post yesterday suggests that maybe the old Friedman is coming back. In response to the question of “What has taken you most by surprise since being appointed ambassador in May?”,

Friedman replied:

“I think the American Jewish community tends to look at Israel somewhat myopically. The Right is portrayed as believing that peace is not possible. The Left is portrayed as believing that only if the alleged occupation ended would Israel become a better society.”

Did you catch that?

The “alleged” occupation.

In a follow up after the interview was over, Friedman reiterated that he meant what he said.

Now that is refreshing.

Hop on the train! . . .

As we have often noted here, traffic in Israel has become unbearable. As a solution, more people are taking the train.

In the first six months of 2017, Israel Railways transported 31.5 million passengers, an average of 205,000 per day (remember there are no trains on Shabbat).

Three Funny Quotes from the last two days . . .

1. Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri:

“Israel knows very well there are no [Iranian-Hezbollah] missile factories in Lebanon. The Israelis are used to conducting campaigns of deception. They say Hezbollah controls Lebanon, and that is not true.”

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Good one Sa’ad! What part of Lebanon does Hezbollah not control?

2. Israel Communications Minister Ayoub Kara:

“My policy of Communications Minister is clear and unequivocal: Any journalist who encourages terrorists will be arrested.”

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Good one Ayoub! Israel will not even revoke the press card of the main Al-Jazeera “journalist” who constantly encourages terrorists.

3. The Israel High Court of Justice in denying a petition to recognize gay marriage:

“On the matter of recognizing marriage that was was not conducted in accordance to religious law–including same-sex marriage–it was ruled that it is better that the issued be determined by the legislative branch.”

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Good one High Court! When has the High Court ever cared about trampling on legislative rights? And now suddenly it does?
