The News on the Israeli Street
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
This Friday has been like last Friday on the Gaza border–which is to say that there has been another diminished number of rioters–around 3000–but continued, multiple attempts to breach the Israeli border by members of various terrorist organizations in Gaza.
Thus far, 4 terrorists have died in the attempt today.
Meanwhile, out in Judea and Samari, there have been numerous “rock” and Molotov attacks at such places as Beit Ummar (an Israeli wounded), Hizma (bus passengers treated for trauma), Azzun (bus windows and windshield smashed), near Maayanot, Karmei Tzur, Deir Nizam, Beit Furik, Itamar, Kiryat Arba, Beit Anun (woman badly wounded in the head by “rocks”), Road 443 near the Maccabim Checkpoint, in the Kikish Valley near Argaman, El Aruv, Hevron, and at the Qalandiya Checkpoint.
In total, some 30 terror incidents were reported to hakolhayehudi, rotter, and Rescue 443.
Regular readers of israelstreet surely notice . . .
. . . that some locations above are the scenes of terrorist attacks virtually everyday. When you look back at the above list, think about how many times over the years each one of these locations from Beit Ummar to the Qalandiya Checkpoint have been on the daily list posted here.
Yesterday, the residents of Karmei Tzur said enough is enough. They sent this message to the government:
“Unfortunately, the sequence of terrorist events gives the feeling that our region has become the Wild West. Our daily experience is that terrorists try to harm us. We call on decision-makers to act aggressively against the hostile population, to improve security for the residents, and to strengthen our community.”
It is indeed absurd that such communities are continually targeted and the government seems powerless to stop them.

The BDS Movement Has A New Heroine
The ceremony to award this year’s Genesis Prize has been canceled because this year’s winner refuses to come to Israel to accept the award.
Her name is Natalie Portman.
Nevermind that Portman was born in Jerusalem, carries dual Israeli-American citizenship, or that she once said: “My heart’s in Jerusalem. That’s where I feel at home.”
Sure thing.
In fact, Portman lived in Israel for the first three years of her life and has spent the rest of her life living in the United States or elsewhere–that is the extent of her “Israeliness.”
In recent years, Portman has become a leading critic of our country and its government. Back in 2015, Portman said this after PM Netanyahu was reelected:
“I’m very much against Netanyahu. Against. I am very, very upset and disappointed that he was re-elected. I find his racist comments horrific. However, I don’t — what I want to make sure is, I don’t want to use my platform the wrong way. I feel like there’s some people who become prominent, and then it’s out in the foreign press. You know, sh*t on Israel. I do not. I don’t want to do that.”
As your humble servant wrote back then and repeats today: “Natalie Portman does not want to use her platform to sh*t on Israel, but she uses her platform to sh*t on Israel.”
And that’s what she did again in refusing to come to Israel to accept the Prize. Here’s what she communicated to Bereshit Foundation that awards the Genesis Prize: “Recent events in Israel have greatly upset me and I do not feel comfortable participating in a public event in Israel. I cannot come to the ceremony with a clean conscience.”
She cannot come to Israel with a clean conscience?
This is a comment straight out of the BDS handbook.
As far as your humble servant is concerned, he will never again go to a movie starring, directed, or produced by Natalie Portman. His conscience simply could not abide it. I suggest that you, dear readers, do the same.
Avoid Natalie Portman like the BDS supporter that she is.
