The News on the Israeli Street
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
Palestinian terrorists have assaulted Israeli men, women, and children at Ma’aleh Shomron, Abu Dis, Tekoa, El Aruv, Hizma, Azzun, Elon Moreh, Ein Kfir, Mount Hevron, Kumi Uri, the Eliyahu Checkpoint, Deir Nizam, Azzun, and a myriad of other places.
Numerous Israelis were wounded by “rocks” and Molotovs in the above attacks.
Several Palestinian terrorists were killed in Gaza–by themselves. One terrorist was blown up in Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza as the result of a failed missile launch against southern Israel; another Hamas terrorist belonging to the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades was blown up in a tunnel explosion east of Dir al-Balah that Hamas termed a “work accident.”
A report confirming our “Court” reportage . . .
The Movement for Governance and Democracy issued a report today confirming what we have been saying on israelstreet for years, namely that the Supreme Court and its adjunct the High Court of Injustice have accelerated the wholesale emasculation of the Knesset.
The report notes that between 1997-2011, two laws that passed the Knesset were invalidated. However, between 2012-2016, twelve laws were invalidated. In 2017 alone, five more laws were wiped from the books.
The author of the report concludes: “There is no democratic state in the world where judges, who are not elected officials and are not appointed by elected officials, hold so many powers of legislation and government, [and] discuss every issue without the need for a specific victim, [and] act in the first and last instance, as legislators.”
Truly, what is going on judicially in Israel is dangerously absurd and demands remedy. The problem begins at the top, with the Israel Supreme Court and the High Court of Injustice. Next Monday, the government is set to consider a new law that will allow the Knesset to overcome rulings of the “Court.”

Speaking of absurd . . .
Another unsurprising ranking emerged yesterday, this one from the Numbeo website.
Numbeo calculates the cost of living in countries based on “the average cost of consumer goods, including food, restaurants, transportation and other services.”
So what are the 10 most expensive countries in the world? First is Bermuda; tenth is Israel:
Bermuda, Switzerland, Iceland, Norway, Bahamas, Luxembourg, Denmark, Singapore, Japan, Israel.
In some respects, the Netanyahu government has acted vigorously to bring down prices in Israel, but, as you can see, the reality is that Israel remains an incredibly expensive place in which to live.
Ethnic cleansing in France . . .
A remarkable document has just been produced in France signed by some 300 French “intellectuals” including former presidents and prime ministers, philosophers, clergy, and musicians. It comes in the wake of the murders of elderly Jews which have recently occurred in Paris and environs.
The document notes that the time has come to recognize that Islam has created a new anti-Semitism in France and that the French must fight “before France will not be France.“ It also harshly criticizes “the quiet ethnic cleansing” of Jews from “immigrant neighborhoods.”
“Quiet” ethnic cleansing . . . “Quiet” because no one in the media cares one whit about what is happening to Jews across Europe.

A Native American Indigenous Leader Speaks:
“Samaria has to be liberated from the Arab occupation.”
“The story of the Jewish people is an inspiration for us, your return to the land and to your language after thousands of years. Samaria has to be liberated from the Arab occupation, and the Jews should be allowed to return to their homes.
It is an honor for us to be here and to meet such wonderful people, the people of this land. Your story of the people of Israel gives us a lot of hope . . . for Indians it’s an exciting success story. Because we share a similar story. They took from us our language, our identity, our land, and here there is the story of returning to Israel. It encourages and strengthens us.
It is an honor for us to be in Samaria and to encourage people in America and overseas to support Israel including Samaria [and to encourage people] to speak out against the BDS movement and to help Israel in any way. We are doing what we can to stop the propaganda and the fake news against Israel.
The Arab occupation must be stopped, and Samaria must be returned to the Jewish people, as [you] have restored Jerusalem and the rest of the land to its [original] owners.“
Chief Joseph Riverwind, chief of the Northern Arawak Tribal Nation speaking in Samaria yesterday.
Chief Riverwind and his wife, Dr. Laralyn Riverwind are currently in Israel, and were visiting Samaria yesterday. As you may or may not know, the home of the Arawak Native Americans are the Greater Antilles islands in the Caribbean.
According to various histories, they were the natives that Christopher Columbus first met when he landed on Hispaniola. Unfortunately, the Arawaks were almost wiped out by diseases brought by Columbus and his men.
All your humble servant can say about the above quotation is “Wow!” Isn’t it a pleasure to hear someone speaking the unvarnished truth? Here is another picture from the Riverwinds’ website:
The good news is that Area C of Samaria (and Judea) is ripe for liberation–all that has to happen is for Israel to annex the area to Israel.
Israel should immediately heed the words of Chief Riverwind.
