Corroborating Quote of the Day

“We coordinate with Tehran on a daily basis.”

Hamas leader in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar, speaking yesterday.

Not that we didn’t already know about how Iran was controlling Hamas in Gaza, but this comment is further corroboration of U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s remarks at the Heritage Foundation three days ago concerning how Iran’s terrorist tentacles are reaching throughout the Middle East and the world.

Sad Picture of the Day

The following picture from the Kinneret (Sea of Galilee) was released yesterday for nature lovers. Notice all the vegetation in the foreground which is now being used by migrating birds as a nesting area.

Unfortunately what the picture also shows is how the Kinneret is drying up:

The picture speaks for itself.

The picture speaks for itself.

The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

There has been a rash of terror attacks directed at Israelis.

*A stabbing in Jerusalem: at 4:50 pm this afternoon, MADA paramedics were called to Jaffa Street where they found an Israeli man who had been viciously stabbed in the chest. He was rushed to Ein Kerem Hadassah Hospital where his condition is listed as “extremely critical.” He is not expected to survive.

*An IDF soldier critically wounded: during the night there were serious attacks by Arabs in the Al Amari Palestinian settlement near Ramallah. The soldier is currently in a coma and may not survive (see Today’s Blog).

*Another shooting attack: an Palestinian terrorist fired at Border Policemen near the Tunnel Checkpoint and was finally captured.

*A breach of the Beit Horon security fence: all Beit Horon residents are currently locked in their homes as security forces hunt for two Palestinian terrorists who climbed over the fence.

*An attempted breach of the Gaza border fence: three Palestinian terrorists attempted to cross the barbed wire near the Erez Crossing. They ran back to Gaza when they were fired on by an IDF patrol.

*An arson attack: Palestinan terrorists from Beit Furiq set fire to the area around Itamar.

*Molotovs and “rocks” thrown at Israeli motorists: at Beit Ummar, Karmela, Elon Moreh, Al-Khader, El Aruv, Itamar, Herodion, Abud, and a myriad of other places.

With friends like this . . .

. . . who needs enemies? Of course we all know by now that as much as the western media likes to portray King Abdullah of Jordan as a “moderate” and as a friend of Israel, the opposite is true.

From unrepentantly depleting Israel of water resources to fraudulently leading the criticism of Israel in international venues, Abdullah is nothing but a garden-variety anti-Semite.

Yesterday, the little king was in Egypt trying to enlist President Sisi in his campaign to “de-Judaize” Jerusalem following the transfer of the American Embassy to Jerusalem.

With friends like these . . .

. . . who needs enemies? Remember the members of the U.S. Democrat Party who came to Israel last month and pretended to support Israel? At that time, your humble servant wondered aloud on israelstreet how long it would take them once they returned to the U.S. to begin attacking Israel.

That attack began yesterday when 76 Democrats signed a letter harshly criticizing Israel for planning to demolish the illegal structures built by Palestinians in Susiya near Hevron and elsewhere in Area C of Judea and Samaria.

The letter said the planned demolitions are “a departure from the values shared by both countries. The hideous letter went on to state that “the expansion of the settlements in areas that are to become part of the Palestinian state [are an] “abandonment of the two state solution.”

What is shared by both Israel and the United States among other things is an adherence to the rule of law–something the Democrats obviously cannot appreciate when it comes to Palestinians. And “on by the way”, there is no construction going on in Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria.

As you can imagine, the force behind the Democrats and their letter was none other than the abominable J Street.

She’s got it all wrong . . .

Miram Naor, former President of the Israel Supreme Court, was on Israeli television last night complaining that there is “an unjustified stigmatizing of the Israeli judiciary.” According to her, this stigmatization has led to a decline in public trust of the courts.

Your humble servant was thinking about her statement this morning when I read that yesterday, the Jerusalem District Court sentenced two young Israelis to 24 months in prison for throwing rocks at a Palestinian a year and a half ago.

Two years in prison.

This is the same court that regularly acquits and releases Palestinians for throwing “rocks” at Israelis.

This is the reason for the decline in public trust of the Israeli judiciary: absurdly biased rulings that let Palestinians off the hook and punish Israelis.

So much for Eurovision in Jerusalem next year . . .

As you all know by now, the victory of Netta Barzilai in this year’s Eurovision contest was supposed to bring next year’s Eurovision contest to Jerusalem.

However, the European Broadcasting Corporation informed Israelis today that it will not be held in Jerusalem if European countries decide to boycott a Jerusalem-based contest.

And since tens of thousands have already signed a boycott petition in Iceland, and Swedish groups are urging a boycott, and the “Liberal” Party in Britain is supporting a boycott, and the mayor of Dublin wants a boycott, and the Europeans are gutless wonders, there is every reason to believe that there will be no Eurovision in Israel after all.

TODAY’S BLOG:

Why Was Our Duvdevan Soldier Critically Wounded Last Night?

We noted above that an IDF soldier was critically wounded in the Al-Amari Palestinian settlement near Ramallah. Here are the full details:

The soldier was a member of the Duvdevan Unit, otherwise known as Unit 217. It is an elite unit whose soldiers often dress in Arab clothing in order to carry out undercover operations in the urban areas of Judea and Samaria.

Last night the soldier’s Duvdevan unit was on a mission in Al-Amari when they were spotted by Palestinian terrorists on the rooftop of a three-story building. The Palestinians began throwing “rocks” and other projectiles off the top of the building at the soldiers.

One terrorist dropped a “rock”–a 10 kg marble slab–off the top of the building that struck our soldier in the head, critically wounding him. It is unlikely that he will survive.

The question arises of why the soldiers did not begin firing at the rooftop as soon as the “rocks” and projectiles began hitting them.

The answer is simple: recently, the IDF changed its “open-fire” regulations once again.

According to the new regulations, soldiers who are under attack from a rooftop are forbidden to fire unless they can establish “direct eye contact” with the terrorists.

Because no such eye contact could be established last night, the soldiers did not fire.

And our soldier was critically wounded.

By the way, you will also note above the mention of an attack in which our Border Police were fired on yesterday. They too were prohibited from firing at the terrorist because of new open fire restrictions. They were reduced to firing over the terrorist’s head until he was captured.

Can you believe how ridiculous the situation has become? Even when our soldiers are under attack from “rocks”, Molotovs, IEDs, bullets or whatever, they cannot defend themselves.

It is beyond appalling.
