Breaking News:

Ronen Lubarsky, our Duvdevan soldier who was critically wounded near Ramallah on Wednesday night, has died of the wounds he suffered with Palestinian terrorists dropped a marble slab on his head from the rooftop of a 3-story building.

Blessed be his memory.

The News on the Israeli Street and Today’s Blog

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

Now that the IDF has decided to withdraw most of our troops from the Gaza border, daily terrorist incursions into Israel have resumed. For the third time in as many days, a group of terrorists opened a hole in the fence, entered Israel, burned an IDF position, and then returned to Gaza.

More than this, all IDF attempts to curb the Molotov kite fires have failed. Yesterday alone, 14 separate fires were started by Palestinian terrorists who flew their kites into Israel. The number of acres of land being burned increases everyday.

The fraud continues . . .

There have been no violent protests on the Gaza border for almost 10 days now, but the Gaza Ministry of Health is making sure that Palestinians are still dying at the rate of one a day.

Today, the dead person is 41 year-old Hussein Salem Abu Awida. He either dropped dead of a heart attack or died of some disease, but now he has been elevated to a “martyr who died in a demonstration” in Gaza.

Speaking of a fraud . . .

Iran is full of them, but Iranian FM Javad Zarif who is embraced by every European country as a “moderate”, was caught on video yesterday chanting “Death To America!“, “Death to Britain!“, and “Death to Israel!

The chant began spontaneously after a speech by Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in Tehran.

By the way, others chanting included the head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Commission, and the Iranian Chief of Staff of the Army, General Mohammed Hussein Bakri.

The pusillanimous French on parade . . .

Do you remember the old joke:

A: The French Army.

What is it that makes the French so timid? Why do they shrink in the face of challenge? Why are they so afraid?

Your humble servant does not profess to know the answer, but French pusillanimity was on full display Friday at the International Economic Forum in St. Petersburg, in the form of French President Emmanuel Macron and his remarks about Jerusalem and Israel.

When asked about the American decision to move the American Embassy to Jerusalem, Macron responded ” . . .this was a mistake. I think that we should avoid escalating the tension in the region.”

Or to put it a different way: “I’m afraid of what might happen.”

The weak-kneed Macron continued: ” . . . the decision to relocate the embassy was a wrong and undesirable decision. We regret this.”

Or to put it a different way: “I’m afraid. I’m sorry.”

What does Macron have? No courage whatsoever. No courage to confront the attempt of Palestinians and Arabs to intimidate the West.

The Turkish economy continues to slide . . .

The run on the Turkish currency continued today with every Turk of means seeking to convert Turkish pounds into dollars and euros.

Yesterday, PM Erdogan urged his followers to take their dollars and euros and convert them into Turkish lira.

This followed emergency action by the Turkish Central Bank on Wednesday which increased the interest rate on loans from 13.5% to 16.5%. That move temporarily slowed the lira’s decline–a decline against the dollar of more than 20% this year.

In point of fact, all of PM Erdogan’s initiatives to revive the Ottoman Empire by exerting Turkish influence in Jerusalem, Gaza, Syria, Iraq, Bosnia, and elsewhere, are being largely subsidized by borrowed foreign capital.

Perhaps it would not be a bad idea for the Turkish economy collapse.
