Picture of the Day
He is standing at Quneitra with the Israeli Golan Heights in the background. We now have Palestinian terrorists all along the Gaza border, Palestinian terrorists throughout Judea and Samaria–and now Palestinian terrorists positioned along the Syrian border. By the way, if you look at the far left of the photo (over the tip of the tank turret) you see a road that leads down to Quneitra. Your humble servant has been on that road many times.
Quote of the Day
“We did not succeed in hitting the terror cells that carried out the rocket fire this week. An order was given to locate and attack the terror cells . . . but the enemy improved . . . they went underground . . . The IDF response was acceptable to all the security forces, as well as to the heads of the communities along the border.”
An unnamed senior officer in the Southern Command in an “off the record” interview yesterday.
This is the first statement from the IDF which recognizes the IDF failure in the recent one-day war, and it is a recognition that the IDF has not kept up with Hamas and Islamic Jihad in its tactics and strategies.
But . . . “the IDF response was acceptable to all the security forces”? If it was acceptable, that speaks volumes about the sad state of the command structure of those forces. And it was acceptable to the heads of the communities along the border? This is just self-serving hog slop; southern Israelis were appalled at the lack of IDF response.
The Hypocritical Condemnation of the Day
Just to show the non-stop condemnations that are aimed at Israel, israelstreet is going to start illustrating the point with a “condemnation of the day”.
Yesterday, the slimy government of France condemned our government’s decision to approve construction of 2,000 housing units in Judea and Samaria, especially 92 units beside the E1 area near Ma’aleh Adumim.
From the French Foreign Ministry: “The approval threatens the very possibility of establishing a viable Palestinian state with continuity in its borders with Jerusalem as the capital of both state.”
This could not be more hypocritical. The French, along with the rest of the European Union, have been trying to build illegal settlements in the E1 area for more than a year in order to encourage Palestinians to move from Areas A and B to the E1 area.
The News on the Israeli Street
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
The eleven fires that were started by Molotov kites were finally extinguished last night but not before hundreds of more dunams were burned.
Palestinian terrorists are currently attacking the border fence at three locations along the Gaza border. Attempts to infiltrate Israel have been repulsed by live fire from IDF forces. Dozens more Molotov kites have been launched into southern Israel.
The vote tonight in the UN Security Council . . .
Tonight the members will vote on a Kuwaiti resolution that would place an international force in Gaza “to protect Palestinians.”
US Ambassador Nikki Haley said this yesterday:
“The United States will no doubt veto the Kuwait resolution, which is morally wrong and will undermine the ongoing efforts of peace between Israelis and Palestinians.
Bravo once again to the Trump Administration and Ambassador Haley!

More good news from the Tourism Ministry . . .
The number of tourists to Eilat doubled during the winter months from the same months last year.
146,000 tourists came to Eilat on some 50 weekly flights. They spent $194 million dollars while in the country.
More and more airlines are planning to fly to Eilat including Transavia which will fly directly from Amsterdam to Eilat, and Edelweiss which will be coming from Zurich.
Tourism Minister Yariv Levin commented on the tourist increase: “[This is] an increase in the number of tourists for the third consecutive year, placing Eilat on the international tourism map . . . Support for entrepreneurs and the development of tourist infrastructure, accommodation and hospitality, are increasing tourism to Israel.”
TODAY’S BLOG:
“I have no words to describe the absurdity of these lies.”
As we mentioned in yesterday’s blog, it is now open season again on PM Netanyahu and his family. As regular readers of israelstreet know, your humble servant is not an avid supporter of all the policies of PM Netanyahu; however, I find the never-ending attacks of the Israeli media on the Netanyahus absolutely despicable.
Yesterday, saw one fraudulent story after another.
To begin with PM Netanyahu was accused of having ordered (years ago) the wiretapping of the phones of then IDF Chief of Staff Benny Gantz and then Mossad head Tamir Pardo. The prime minister immediately responded that it was a lie.
Next, it was Sara Netanyahu’s turn.
In an article in the ultra left-wing Israeli newspaper Haaretz, she was accused of trying to “physically assault” Eli Gruner, the director-general of the Prime Minister’s office.
The article claimed that “another official separated the two” and “Gruner was left unscathed.”
Mrs. Netanyahu immediately denounced the story as a lie: “I have no words to describe the absurdity of these lies, which have been going on for more than 20 years.”
Shortly thereafter Eli Gruner also denounced the Haaretz “story” as a lie.
Sometimes a picture speaks more loudly than words. Gruner is a large, burly, bulldoggish man who was a combat soldier in the Paratroopers’ Brigade:
The idea that the diminutive Sara Netanyahu would try to physically assault Gruner is so absurd as to be borderline insane–but it is indicative of the frauds the Netanyahus face everyday.
