Special Notice (June 15):

Your humble servant will be traveling for the next 7 days, often in places that have little or no internet service. An abbreviated israelstreet will appear as service permits, before resuming regular publication from Israel on June 23.

Quote of the Day:

“Peace with the Palestinians is definitely possible. It will come on the day that the Messiah returns riding a white donkey, not a day before.”

Minister of Defense Avigdor Lieberman speaking at Bar-Ilan University yesterday

Your humble servant is no big fan of Lieberman, but he certainly has it right when it comes to peace.

The News on the Israeli Street and Today’s Blog:

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

Deir Abu Mash’al, Adam, Deir Nizam, Route 456 near Ofarim, Huwara, Beit Ummar, Maale Amos, Silwad, Karmei Tzur, Gush Talmonim,  Jenin, Azzun: these were places where Israelis were attacked with Molotovs, “rocks”, and IEDs yesterday.

A Palestinian terrorist infiltrated Havat Gilad, but was chased away by gunfire from the community’s emergency security force.

“Humanitarian” supplies into Gaza . . .

Yesterday Israel permitted 335 trucks carrying 169.62 tons of “supplies” to enter Gaza. Of course, most of the supplies went straight to Hamas for use in tunnel and missile building.

Infant mortality in Gaza . . .

The always Israel-bashing UNRWA issued a report yesterday showing that infant mortality declined in Gaza from 1967 until 2005–when Israel was in charge.

However, from 2007 until today–the period of Hamas rule–infant mortality has been steadily increasing.

In 1967, Palestinian infant mortality in Gaza was 127 per 1000 births. When Israel left in 2005, it was 20.2. Today it is back up to 23.

Good news! . . .

A newly proposed law will be considered by the Ministerial Committee on Legislation on Sunday.

It will prohibit so-called “humanitarian” organizations from taking pictures or videos of IDF soldiers while they are on duty. According to the bill, “anyone who photocopies, records or distributes documentation of IDF activity in order to harm soldiers” could receive a maximum sentence of 5 years in prison.

It is expected to be approved and sent on to the Knesset for the requisite readings.

More good news . . .

Now that the United Nations Human Rights Council has rejected all American demands for reform, a number of diplomats revealed yesterday that the U.S. will definitely be withdrawing from the Council in the near future.
