The News on the Israeli Street
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
In Judea and Samaria:
A vicious stabbing attack took place in the community of Adam (also known as Geva Binyamin). A Palestinian terrorist managed to breach the perimeter security fence and then stabbed the first three people he encountered.
31-year-old Yotam Ovadia was killed after being stabbed in the back, a 58-year-old man suffered major stab wounds and is listed in “very serious” condition, and a third man was stabbed in the ‘limbs”. Fortunately, that third man was armed and killed the terrorist.
Ovadia was a beloved community member and leaves behind his wife and two children: 2-year-old Harel and 7-month-old Itai.
In response to the murder, Trump envoy Jason Greenblatt issued this statement:
“Yet another barbaric attack tonight. When will President Abbas and Palestinian leaders condemn violence? Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families tonight.”
Of course, Greenblatt knows that no Palestinian leader will condemn the murder. In regard to the murder, Hamas declared:
“We call on our people to carry out additional heroic actions in order to stop the aggression of the occupation, and tomorrow a popular uprising will break out in the Al-Aqsa Mosque and all parts of Palestine.”
Elsewhere, Palestinian terrorists carried out “rock” and Molotov attacks against Israelis at Beitin, Beit Anun, on the Gush Etzion Road near Hevron, Beit El, Kiryat Arba, Gilad, on the Jerusalem-Gush Etzion Road, Rimonim, Madma, Umm Safa, and the Michmash Junction among other places.
On the Gaza Border:
It was revealed yesterday that the IDF knew about the fact, but did not inform anyone, that Hamas terrorists have planted explosive charges around a still unnamed Jewish community.
12 more fires were started by Palestinian terrorists launching incendiary balloons and kites into southern Israel–as reported by residents in the area. Two of the incendiary devices landed beside a swimming pool crowded with children in the Eshkol region. Following its plan of information suppression, the government only acknowledged that 3 fires were started.
Mladenov leaves Gaza . . .
In a somewhat surprising development, “UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process” Nikolay Mladenov apparently left Gaza last night in a huff after failing to obtain a “ceasefire’ from the leaders of Hamas.

What this bodes for the next few days is anyone’s guess.
Remember the two missiles from Syria yesterday? . . .
Fortunately no Israelis were killed or wounded when the missiles hit the Kinneret, but the same cannot be said for fish in the lake.
Thousands of dead fish killed by the explosions have washed ashore.
A new IDF Chief of Staff will soon be chosen, but . . .
The good news is that do-nothing IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot is on his way out as his term in office comes to an end. It had been rumored that Eizenkot had wanted to stay for a second term, but that idea has been nixed.
The bad news is that the new IDF Chief of Staff will be chosen by our “Non-Defense” Minister Avigdor Lieberman, IDF Chief of Staff Eizenkot, the ultra-left wing Military Advocate General, as well as various former defense ministers and cabinet members.
Given how the entire IDF General Command is infected with destructive political correctness, we can expect that the next Chief of Staff will be an Eizenkot clone.
TODAY’S BLOG:
The End Of Deterrence:
No One Fears Israel Anymore
If there is anything that Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot’s term of office will be remembered for it is that it marked an end to any deterrence that Israel has on its southern and northern borders.
Of course it is unfair to only blame Eizenkot. A succession of impotent Chiefs of Staff has led us to this point. For example, remember how Benny Gantz badly misjudged the war in August 2014 prematurely calling on all residents to return to their border communities because “a season of anemones was upon us.” Those residents were met by a barrage of missiles and mortars.
Unfortunately, we have reached a point where no one fears Israel anymore.
Hamas and Islamic Jihad know that their forces will rarely if ever be targeted–and even have a deal with the IDF to be warned in advance when we are going to “strike.”
Hezbollah certainly does not fear Israel–and why should they? They have amassed one of the most overwhelming missile repositories in the world which can fired at Israel at a moment’s notice. What is stopping Hezbollah from doing so is not that it fears what Israel will do to Hezbollah, but what it might do to all of Lebanon.
In Syria, Iran obviously does not fear Israel and has its own troops and proxies camped out within kilometers of the border despite all efforts to keep them back. Even Islamic State does not fear Israel as evidenced by the missiles fired over Israel two days ago.
The bottom line is that we live in a region in which our survival is based on how much fear our adversaries have of our power.
When we continually fail to use that power out of fear of being politically incorrect or because we are trying to be too “humanitarian”, we only hasten the day when Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran will try to obliterate us.
