Picture of the Day:
A house in Beersheva.
This follows reports a few days ago from army personnel of incendiary devices further south in the Negev. It is amazing and sickening how the plague of fires continues and extends in range, and no one in the government or IDF is even talking about it anymore.

The News on the Israeli Street
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
On the Gaza border:
**26 more fires were started yesterday.
26.
From Zikim to Nir Yitzhak to Nahal Oz–firefighters fought to keep blazes under control as ever more land in the communities on the border was torched.
You might note that the number of fires has increased every day this week. To borrow an old cliche, our government fiddles while southern Israel burns.
**A disturbing video (which cannot be shown here because of its poor quality) was posted yesterday in which a large group of Palestinian terrorists overran an IDF post on the border. None of our soldiers were in the post at the time (where were they?); and the terrorists ransacked the location taking away various documents and materials.
How in the world did the IDF let this happen?
In Judea and Samaria:
**Palestinian terrorists wounded an IDF soldier in Hizma; it is unclear at this time whether the soldier was a member of the Caracal Battalion.
**Palestinian terrorists attacked Israelis with “rocks” and Molotovs at Ein Yabrud, Ofra, Halhul, Beit Ummar, Tekoa, Peduel, Karmei Tzur, Qadum, on Road 443, and Nabi Saleh to name 10 out of some 30 locations.
Missive number 4 from Friedman, Kushner and Greenblatt . . .
Yesterday, the above trio issued their 4th laudatory “letter” in as many days–apparently in advance of the publication of the Trump Peace Plan:
However, Hamas was quick to respond through the its spokesman Abd al-Latif al-Qanu’a:
“The march of return and the breaking of the siege is now close to achieving its goals and reaping its fruits after the great sacrifices that the Palestinian people have made and will continue until the last moment when our full national goals will be achieved.”
“The march of return” . . . “will continue until the last moment when our full national goals will be achieved.”
And what are Hamas’ full national goals? The destruction of the state of Israel and the elimination of all Jews.
Speaking of Jared Kushner . . .
The magazine Political Policy published an article yesterday which shows the remarkably refreshing fact that Trump son-in-law and Mideast negotiator Jared Kushner has been working hard to remove the phrase “Palestinian refugees” from the international lexicon.
One way he has been proceeding is through an attempt to get rid of UNRWA–an elimination we have been advocating for on israelstreet for years.
Of course the article was highly critical of Kushner, claiming that the UNRWA has provided “food and essential services to millions of Palestinian refugees for decades.” It went on to include the bogus 5,000,000 plus number and other assorted canards in the Palestinian faux narrative.
The magazine included an email Kushner wrote back in January in which he said:
“It is important to have an honest and sincere effort to disrupt UNRWA . . . [it] perpetuates a status quo, is corrupt, inefficient and does not help peace . . . Our goal can not be keep things stable and as they are. … Sometimes you have to strategically risk breaking things in order to get there.”
Your humble servant does not always agree with Kushner, but in this case I can only say “Bravo!” At last, we have governmental recognition of the destructiveness of UNRWA.
TODAY’S BLOG:
The New Israel Fund: Trying To Rip Apart Israel, Again
As regular readers of israelstreet know, your humble servant despises the New Israel Fund. In my view, the organization spends millions of dollars each year funding a wide array of organizations in Israel whose only purpose is to foment discord and rip Israeli society apart.
In the past few days, the Fund has reared its ugly head again, this time in the form of “We Make A Change” an ultra-left wing group wholly and brazenly dedicated to replacing our current government.
Unfortunately, the group has now latched onto the Druze. What was supposed to be a demonstration tonight in Rabin Square to show solidarity with the Druze has now come under the aegis of “We Make A Change” which is focusing its activities tonight on eliminating the new Nation Law that just passed the Knesset–and by extension the Netanyahu government.
It must be said that the Nation Law upset many of our loyal minorities in this country that faithfully serve in the IDF. It is fair to say that a provision should have been in the law to recognize the loyalty of the Druze, Circassians, Bedouins, and others who serve (not all of each group does). Hopefully, the law will be amended in the coming month to rectify the situation.
Meanwhile, most of the Druze have accepted that the government has recognized the problem and will amend the law. But others, spurred by the New Israel Fund, have resorted to name calling and demonstrations.
As one Druze leader said yesterday: “[The Nation Law] is a good law. The New Israel Fund is fomenting the community against the state, exploiting it as a tool to defeat the Netanyahu government.”
In short, there is nothing new about the New Israel Fund. Theirs is an old story of undermining this country.
