The News on the Israeli Street

Violence along the Gaza border yesterday . . .

There were numerous attempts to breach the Gaza border fence yesterday. All of these attacks by Palestinian terrorists were repelled by our soldiers. In one assault, the son of a Hamas leader was badly wounded (unfortunately he survived).

At the same time, incendiary kites and balloons continued to be launched out of Gaza setting fire to various locations. The worst of the fires yesterday was at Kibbutz Sa’ad.

On the beaches of Tel Aviv yesterday . . .

Hundreds of Israeli-Arabs showed up yesterday wearing shirts adorned with the Palestinian flag and inscribed with “Palestine 48.”

A small group among many others that showed up in Tel Aviv yesterday.

A small group among many others that showed up in Tel Aviv yesterday. Why don’t they go live in Ramallah, Jenin, or Tulkarm? What do you think would happen if a group of Israelis showed up in one of those cities wearing shirts bearing the Israeli flag and reading “Israel 1948”?

Needless to say, other Israelis along the beaches were not amused and posted pictures like the one above.

Speaking of shirts . . .

Remember this picture that we posted back in June of pro-Palestinian protesters in Barcelona waving a Palestinian flag and a bloodied jersey (it was a “Messi” jersey). ?They were protesting the pre-World Cup game that was supposed to have taken a few weeks later in Israel between Argentina and Israel.

A protest this week in Barcelona where the Argentinians were practicing. Note the Palestinian flag in the foreground, and the bloodied Argentian jersey being held in the background. What you cannot see is that jersey reads "Messi."

Yesterday, FIFA’s disciplinary committee surprisingly decided to expel the president of the Palestinian Football Association for 1 year.  The punishment came after Jibril Rajoub encouraged all “fans” to burn shirts and pictures of Argentinian soccer player Lionel Messi earlier in order to stop the Argentinian team from playing in Israel.

As it turned out, Palestinian “fans” not only burned the shirts and pictures, but also issued death threats to Messi and his family. In the end, Messi and the Argentinians were intimidated into not playing in Israel.

In addition to the expulsion, Rajoub was fined 20,000 Swiss francs.

Speaking of money . . .

In a move that comes as somewhat of a surprise, the Trump Administration announced that it was cutting $200 million dollars from the Palestinian aid budget of $250 million that was approved by the U.S. Congress earlier this year.

As we commented at the time, we could not understand how the Congress could fail to see that the money that was supposedly being earmarked for “humanitarian” and “economic” projects would be funneled straight into the pockets of Mahmoud Abbas and his PLO cronies–and into the pockets of Hamas in Gaza.

As you can imagine, the Palestinians are crying this morning over the lack of funding saying that it spells the end of the two-state solution.

Your humble servant has only one thing to say: “Let them cry.”

France sticks its ugly head where it doesn’t belong, again . . .

As we reported yesterday, an Israeli planning committee just approved construction of 1000 new housing units in Area C of Judea and Samaria. Whether these units will ever actually be built is highly questionable given PM Netanyahu’s antipathy toward construction.

But more than this, the 1000 number is appallingly small. With a Jewish population of around 450,000 people, many of whom are young, growing families in urgent need of housing, 1000 housing units is just a drop in the bucket.

But all of this didn’t stop France from spewing forth canard after canard in a denunciation of the planning committee decision yesterday. According to France, Israel will need to demolish Palestinian homes and ethnically cleanse Palestinians from Area C to make way for the residence units.

What nonsense.

The French have become nothing more than the mouthpiece of the PLO and Hamas.

TODAY’S BLOG:

“You can not just hide 5 million people.”

So cried Pierre Carnabol yesterday. Carnabol, head of the United Nations (so-called) “refugee agency” UNRWA, was once again begging for funds to keep his abominable organization operating.

Of course, his real target was the U.S. cut in donations to UNRWA, and Carnobal declared that UNRWA’s funds had been cut because America is punishing the Palestinians for refusing to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

How like UNRWA to shift the blame for its own failings.

The truth is that the U.S. cut UNRWA funds for reasons specifically related to UNRWA including its perpetuation of Palestinian victimhood, its encouragement of Palestinian infantile dependency, and its educational system which teaches that Israel does not and should not exist.

In fact, not taking responsibility for one’s own actions is a cornerstone of the ideology that UNRWA  has imparted to the Palestinians.

Carnobal concluded his rant with the comment that “You can not just hide 5 million people.”

But the fact is that it is incredibly easy to hide the 5,000,000+ Palestinians that UNRWA calls “Palestinian refugees.”

Why is it easy to hide them?

Because they don’t exist.
