The Iranian warehouses as they were disguised at the Damascus airport 2 days ago on September 15:
About 12 hours after the above photo was taken, Israeli jets blasted all the Iranian ammunition and weapons warehouses to smithereens.
The News on the Israeli Street
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
In Judea and Samaria:
The horrific stabbing murder of Ari Fuld yesterday is the subject of Today’s Blog below.
Elsewhere in Judea and Samaria:
In the early evening, an IDF truck/bus took a wrong turn and somehow ended up in the middle of Qalandiya where it was immediately attacked by Palestinian terrorists. Three soldiers including the driver were wounded when struck by “rocks’ and other “projectiles” before an elite unit could reach the bus and rescue those inside.
Doesn’t the question arise of why the soldiers on the bus were unable to defend themselves?
On the Gaza border:
Multiple fires were started by incendiary balloons launched by Palestinian terrorists in Gaza–three in the Be’eri Forest alone.
About that 14-year-old teenager killed the other day . . .
As you may remember, three Palestinians were killed two days ago near the Gaza border fence. One of them was a 14-year-old who immediately because an international cause celebre as the Palestinians and their friends in the international media used him as an example of Israeli “cruelty.”
Immediately thereafter, the IDF issued a statement saying that the boy had not been killed as a result on Israeli sniper fire, and in fact had been killed when a rock thrown by another Palestinian hit him in the head.
Of course, no one in the media believed the IDF.
Guess what? Palestinian medical personnel in Gaza confirmed yesterday that the boy was killed when he was hit in the head by a “rock”; they found no bullet holes in his body.
If you can believe this . . .
It came to light yesterday that the Defense and Justice Ministries had secretly formed a committee to shorten the life sentences handed down by military courts to Palestinian terrorists.
Yes, you read that correctly.
Apparently, the committee was the brainchild of the Department of Pardons which unilaterally decided that a terrorist murderer is no different than a criminal murderer.
As soon as this became public, the Almagor Terror Victims Organization demanded that the committee be disbanded, issuing a statement that read in part: “As long as there is no death penalty found in the legislative process, the terrorists must be left in prison until their last day and not release them with early releases.” In particular, Almagor singled out our Non-Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman.
This morning Lieberman got the message. First, he declared that while he is Defense Minister no terrorist would have his sentence shortened by even an hour. A few hours later, Lieberman disbanded the committee.
Waking up in Ramallah . . .
We have been writing over the last few weeks about how the PLO must hate waking up in the morning for fear of finding out more steps the Trump Administration has taken against it.
It happened again yesterday.
Now, Trump has decided to freeze all PLO bank accounts in the United States.
More than this, the self-described Palestinian “Ambassador”, Husam Zomlot, found out that his American visa and those of his wife and children have been rescinded, and he has been ordered to leave immediately. At the same time his personal bank accounts have been closed.
What will the PLO wake up to tomorrow?
We hope it is not true . . .
Is it really possible that Israel is now cozying up to PM Erdogan of Turkey again?
Apparently each country is expected to repost its ambassador to the other country in a few weeks.
What on earth does Israel have to gain from playing footsie with one of the world’s leading anti-Semites? Supposedly, it’s the old story of “the enemy of my enemy is my friend.” For some reason, Israel believes that it is on the same side as Turkey in the Syrian fighting–particularly in wanting to get Iranian forces out of the country.
We say “for some reason” because with recent visits of Turks to Tehran and Iranians to Ankara, one can hardly draw that conclusion.
The bottom line is that Turkey is now in a deepening economic crisis, and Turkey needs Israel. But Israel does not need Turkey.
TODAY’S BLOG:
“We owe our lives to heroes like Ari.”
Ari Fuld was tragically murdered yesterday by a Palestinian terrorist who stabbed him in the back as he was walking along the sidewalk outside the Gush Etzion Junction’s shopping mall.
Amazingly, after Ari was stabbed viciously in the back, he somehow managed to wrestle the terrorist away and then chase him down the sidewalk where he shot the terrorist in the chest. At that point, Ari collapsed on the sidewalk and was dead by the time an emergency medical team reached him minutes later.
A dual Israeli-American citizen, Ari was the proud father of four, and had served meritoriously in the IDF during the Lebanon War and elsewhere. A strident and well-known activist for Israel, Ari was a member of the Efrat Emergency Response Team.
By late afternoon, Israelis poured into Efrat to pay their condolences, led by PM Netanyahu and Education Minister Bennett. Netanyahu had this to say:
“This evening I met the parents and siblings of the Israeli hero Ari Fuld. I embraced them in the name of the whole nation of Israel during this terrible time for them. We owe our lives to heroes like Ari. We will always remember him.”
Last night Ari was buried in Efrat, in a funeral attended by thousands.
I would like to close today’s blog with this eloquent tribute from his friend Dov Ben Zion as posted on Dov’s Facebook page yesterday:
“NO! One of our strongest has fallen. Ari Fuld hy”d, a father of four, and one of the proudest, loudest and strongest Jews I have ever known was attacked by a knife wielding terrorist outside of the Gush Etzion shopping center today.
Like the Lion of Israel he was, Ari was attacked, disregarded his fatal wounds, drew his weapon, returned fire, pursued the terrorist so he couldn’t attack another person and put him down before succumbing to his wounds.
Oh dear brother, through our broken hearts and tears, your martyrdom and all you did for Am Yisrael will NEVER EVER be forgotten.
Don’t worry we will all take care of your family.”
