The Outrageously Hypocritical Quote Of the Day
“We will oppose any attempt to change the Arab identity of Jerusalem. It is an international matter, not just a Jordanian one. The threat to freedom of worship has implications on the global level.”
Jordanian King Abdullah, speaking at the United Nations yesterday
On a day when nonsensical bombast reigned supreme at the United Nations, Abdullah’s speech stands out as an Orwellian moment.
Here was a “king”–who is wholly dedicated to denial of freedom of worship for Jews in Jerusalem–accusing Israel of threatening freedom of worship. This is the same Israel that permits millions of Muslims to worship on our Temple Mount each year without restriction.
And let us not forget what happened when Abdullah’s great grandfather Abudullah I, grandfather Talal, and father Hussein were in control of Jerusalem between 1948-1967. They ethnically cleansed the Old City of all Jews, dynamited the largest synagogues, and turned more than 50 others into trash dumps. No Jew was allowed into the Old City much less allowed to worship there.
The News On The Israeli Street
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
On the Gaza border:
Your humble servant is headed down to Sderot this morning to show solidarity with the beleaguered citizens of the Gaza border communities. Those communities suffered 12 more fires yesterday as a result of incendiary balloons fired by Palestinian terrorists in Gaza.
12 more fires.
Think about that for a moment. Where is our government? Where is the IDF General Command? Where is our Non-Defense Minister Lieberman? They are all nowhere to be seen.
In Judea and Samaria:
Your humble servant spent all day yesterday in Samaria* in some of the very places where Israeli citizens were assaulted by terrorists firing guns and throwing “rocks,” Molotovs, and IEDS: Hizma, Beit El, Beitin, all along Roads 60 and 443, and in numerous other places.
Meanwhile, an Israeli-Arab was stopped by alert Israeli Border Guards at a Samarian checkpoint and found to be smuggling a machine gun and other weapons into Samaria.
On the Iranian front . . .
Volvo joined Volkswagen yesterday and announced it will stop production of vehicles in Iran due to American sanctions. The Volvo news release about the decision was apologetic noting that it was being “forced” to do so because the Iranians would not be able to pay Volvo.
What hilarity.
In addition, India announced that it is halting all oil imports from Iran. This follows an announcement reported here last week from India’s largest oil company in the south Chennai which said the same thing.
By the way, it was reported that President Trump refused to shake the hand of Iranian President Rouhani at the United Nations yesterday.
TODAY’S BLOG:
“Our goal is to remove . . . Israel . . .”
Reflections On The Two-State Solution
Two statements yesterday fully illustrate the utter inability of the West to comprehend the nature of the Palestinian enemy we face here in Israel–or its utter culpability in embracing that enemy.
First, we had French President Macron blathering this nonsense in his UN General Assembly address:
“Israel recognizes that France is its friend, and in this name we call to stop the policy that undermines the possibility of a two-state solution.”
Shortly thereafter, in France, we had Ahed Tamimi, the terrorist from Nabi Saleh who recently served time in Israeli prison for assaulting IDF soldiers, speaking this to an audience of adoring fans:
“When I arrived in France I saw how much people loved us and supported us and how they were interested in the Palestinian cause and the liberation of Palestine . . . It was important to meet with official figures so they would exert pressure on Israel. Our goal is not only to remove the settlement in Nabi Saleh, our goal is to remove the occupation, all of it, the large settlement, which is Israel.”
Tamimi could not have stated it more clearly.
A two-state solution has never been the goal of the Palestinians. A two-state solution has always been–as Yasser Arafat always said–just one step toward the real Palestinian goal which is the elimination of Israel.
Is it really possible after all this time that all of the “human rights” advocates, all of the so-called Western “progressives”, and all of the international liberal media just don’t get it?
Is it really possible that all of these people, Emmanuel Macrons, the Barack Obamas, John Kerrys, and the Angela Merkels of the world just don’t get it?
Of course it is not possible. No one, not even the above delusionists could possibly think that the Palestinians want peace after decades of rejected Israeli peace offers and decades of continuing terrorism targeting Israeli men, women, and children.
In your humble servant’s opinion, the “two state solution” has become a cover for those who either support the elimination of Israel at the worst, or are completely indifferent to our elimination at the best.
The next time you hear someone encouraging a two state solution remember Tamimi’s comment:
“Our goal is to remove the occupation, all of it, the large settlement, which is Israel.”
*Your humble servant will share some of his Samarian experiences on israelstreet next week.
