Number of the Day:
449,267
According to Israel’s Ministry of the Interior, there are now 449,297 Israelis living in Judea and Samaria. As recently as 2014, this number was 385,000.
449,267 does NOT include the 350,000+ Israelis living in the 24 Jewish neighborhoods in eastern Jerusalem, a number that was 176,214 fifteen years ago.
The fact that the Israeli population in Judea and Samaria as well as that in eastern Jerusalem is increasing so rapidly is all the more remarkable because of the de facto freeze in construction in these areas ordered by PM Netanyahu during his last 9 years in office.
Video of the Day:
Travelers to northern Israel these days are being treated to a sight rarely seen: a Jordan River full of fast flowing water. With more snow falling on Mt. Hermon today, this situation is likely to continue for some time.
Below is a video taken yesterday by some Israeli rafters on the Jordan yesterday:
הגשמים הרבים שירדו במהלך חודש דצמבר הביאו עמם כמות משקעים יפה, ולראשונה העונה התאפשר שייט סוער בנהר הירדן . כך זה נראה @rubih67

In case you haven’t translated the tweet above, it reads:
“The many rains that came down during the month of December brought with them a nice amount of precipitation, and for the first time this season a stormy cruise in the Jordan River is possible. This is the way it looks. @rubih67 Photo: Jordan River Rafting.”
The News on the Israeli Street
Palestinian terror in the last 24 . . .
In Judea and Samaria:
*Palestinian terrorists threw a pipe bomb at Israelis at Yabad near Hatam Menashe.
*Palestinian terrorists attacked an Israeli bus on the Husan Bypass road. No Israelis were physically wounded; the windshield of the bus was shattered.
*Palestinian terrorists threw three Molotovs at the Karmei Tzur security fence in an attempt to burn it down.
*Palestinian terrorists threw “rocks” and Molotovs at Israeli motorists in more than 20 locations such as Tekoa, Hawara, and Hevron.
On the Gaza border:
Today is the 41st straight Friday that Hamas has ordered its foot soldiers to attack the border fence and try to kill Israeli soldiers.
A few minutes ago, your humble servant watched a news report on the Gaza border situation today by a reporter for Fox News. In that piece, the reporter said that he and other media were being kept back from the fence because Israel does not want the world to see its snipers shooting at the Palestinians.
It was fake news.
In fact, reporters and civilians are being kept away from the border today because Israel has received intelligence that Hamas snipers will be targeting people on the Israel side of the security fence.

Here is the poster put out by Hamas’ military wing this morning calling on terrorists to go to the border at 2:00 this afternoon:
A follow-up to what happened at Amiad yesterday . . .
There was nothing more pathetic yesterday than watching PM Netanyahu trying to escape responsibility for the destruction and violence at the Amiad outpost at Amona.
To hear Netanyahu dissemble, he actually told his military secretary, Brig. Gen. Avi Balot to tell authorities the night before to stop the “evacuation” of Amiad. However, according to Netanyahu, Balot did not relay that information until yesterday morning when it was too late.
Avigdor Lieberman summed up the fiasco correctly: “[It is] a shameful attempt by the prime minister to turn the blame on the evacuation of Amona to his military secretary.”
TODAY’S BLOG:
The Collusion of Left Wing NGOs With the IDF Military Advocate’s Office, the High Court of Justice, and the Israel Police
Your humble servant has often reflected the scandalous connection between the IDF Military Advocate’s Office (IMAO) and various left wing NGOs–notably B’Tselem.
In the process of hauling IDF soldiers before court martials or disciplinary hearings, the IMAO often asks B’Tselem to seek out any Palestinians who might testify against our soldiers. At the moment, B’Tselem is actually assisting the IMAO by trying to find Palestinians in Gaza who will provide evidence against our IDF snipers protecting the border.
More than this, the IMAO has often used–such as in the case of our Hevron soldier Elor Azariya–doctored B’Tselem videotapes to facilitate guilty verdicts in military courts.
I was thinking about all this today when I read that the anti-corruption unit of the Israel police, Lahav 433, is now investigating illegal construction in the Binyamin Regional Council.
At first, my natural assumption was that the illegal construction being investigated were some of the tens of thousands (an estimated 35,000) of illegal Palestinian structures that have gone up in the area.
But no, the so-called “illegal construction” is supposedly “illegal” Jewish construction.
What has spurred this investigation?
The ultra-left wing Peace Now organization submitted a petition to the Israel High Court of Justice demanding action against Jewish construction at the Hayovel outpost near Eli and against construction in the community of Kerem Re’im near Talmon.
The High Court of Justice then outrageously turned to “The Economic Crimes Unit” of Lahav 433 to investigate.
Why is this outrageous?
In the first place, as aforestated, there are literally tens of thousands illegal Palestinian structures all over Area C that the High Court refuses to take action against.
In the second place, Lahav 433 was never set up to investigate Jewish construction in Judea and Samaria. To use it as an instrument against Jewish communities in the area is an abomination.
In the third place and in summary, the entire case once again exposes the unholy alliance between left-wing organizations and the Court/police.
