The News on the Israeli Street
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
On the Gaza border:
Dozens of incendiary balloons were launched from Gaza which set fires when they exploded in such places as Sderot, Moshav Matul, and Be’er Marwa (as seen in the photo above). Balloons were also found as far away from Gaza as the Bilu Junction and in Kfar Saba.
The terror organizations in Gaza are declaring today that terror tomorrow will be accelerated because their $15 million blackmail payment has yet to be received.
In Judea and Samaria:
Palestinian terrorists carried out “rock” and Molotov attacks against Israeli men, women, and children at Idna, Ariel, Ma’ale Amos, the Giti Avisar Junction, Tarquimiya, Tekoa, Adora, Beit Ummar, Madame, Matari Karmala, Beit Hagai, Luban A-Sharqiya, and at the T-Junction among other places.
Justice is dispensed? . . .
*Palestinian terrorist Jamal Tamimi was sentenced yesterday to 18 years in prison for the gruesome murder of 20-year-old British student Hanna Beldon on the Jerusalem Light Rail a year and a half ago.
Tamimi used a 30 cm long butcher knife to stab Beldon repeatedly in the back.
Why was Tamimi only sentenced to 18 years in prison? Because he was judged by the court to be “mentally ill.”
*The High Court of Justice rejected the petition of the family of the terrorist who murdered Ari Fuld last summer to not demolish the third floor of their home.
Nevertheless, the Court expressed its opinion that the concept of home demolitions should be revisited by a legal panel. The truth, of course, is that whole homes are no longer demolished–just floors or bedrooms in which the terrorist lived. This particular terrorist lived on the third floor of a three-story building in Yatta.
A pending miscarriage of justice . . .
Try to wrap your mind around this, dear reader.
An officer and four soldiers of the Netzach Yehuda Battalion were arrested yesterday because they “beat” two Palestinians who collaborated with Assam Barghouti–the terrorist who murdered two Netzach Yehuda soldiers at Givat Assaf and participated in the shooting at Ofra which resulted in 7 Israelis being wounded and one baby dying.
Why did they “beat” the two Palestinians?
Because they helped Barghouti and were believed to know where he was hiding.
Guess what?
The Palestinians did know where he was and revealed his location–where he was subsequently captured. The actions of the officer and soldiers undoubtedly saved Israeli lives by stopping Barghouti’s planned future attacks.
And now the officers and soldiers have been arrested?
Unbelievable.
As we have often stated in this blog, the military justice system in Israel has run completely amok. Terrorists are defended, and our soldiers are arrested.
A big follow-up from yesterday . . .
Four of the five Jewish minors who were arrested and held without a warrant or charges in the death of the Palestinian woman were released this morning for lack of evidence. The 5th “defendant” has been ordered detained for six more days.
Lawyers for the minors issue this statement shortly afterward: “Our police announced that they are asking to release four of the five boys suspected of murder . . . It means that what they [the boys] claimed from the first moment was true, and that these boys who were not in any way connected with this event should not have been arrested. We will not give up until the other detainee whose status is identical to others is released. Today we will turn to the court and demand his immediate release. “
The lead lawyer added this: “My client, like the other defendants, spent nearly two weeks in the cellars of the General Security Service where he was spat at and sexually harassed. They did all sorts of things that are forbidden to do in a democratic country . . . Someone here has to do some soul searching and someone here has to learn lessons. And we appeal to politicians in the State of Israel to stop this behavior of the Shin Bet.”
Amen to that.
TODAY’S BLOG:
The IDF General Command Cowers In The Face Of Terrorism, Again
It is simply amazing to your humble servant how our IDF General Command lives in fear of the terrorists in Gaza.
Despite the facts that the Palestinians attack the border fence everyday and launch incendiary balloons and kites into southern Israel everyday and fire missiles at southern Israel whenever they feel like it, the IDF does all it can to warn Hamas of impending airstrikes in Gaza, facilitate the payment of Qatari blackmail money to Hamas, keep the “humanitarian” supplies used to build Hamas tunnels flowing through constantly open border crossings, and rehabilitate Hamas in press release after press release.
All of this stands in marked contrast to the Egyptian Army which regularly attacks Hamas terrorists in the Sinai, roots out dozens of Hamas tunnels, and opens and closes the Rafah Crossing as it pleases. It so happens that the Rafah Crossing is currently closed.
Today, the IDF General Command is reported to have pleaded with the Egyptian government to reopen the Rafah Crossing.
Yes, pleaded with.
According to the report, the IDF is afraid that if the Rafah Crossing remains closed, Palestinian terrorists will react violently. More specifically, the IDF is “afraid of the suffocation of the Gaza Strip and of the fact that the Palestinian factions will turn their wrath towards it.”
The Palestinian factions in Gaza do nothing except act violently all the time, and they should be suffocated out of existence.
But they will never be held to account until the mentality of the IDF General Command dramatically changes.
