Correct Quote of the Day

“It’s good that there are elections because otherwise Netanyahu would continue to sleep quietly. The non-renewal of the mandate for TIPH observers is appropriate, but it is regrettable that it is only being done for the sake of election needs. Let’s hope that in the run-up to the elections, the prime minister will also remember to evacuate Khan al-Ahmar, strike Hamas, and deal with agricultural terror. If elections were held every two days, the State of Israel would have a right-wing prime minister. “

Attorney Ben Gvir, a resident of Hebron, commenting on PM Netanyahu’s decision not to extend the mandate of the TIPH in Hevron. See Today’s Blog for further information.

As you can see from the above photo, there was an unsuccessful stabbing attack at the Al-Zayyim Checkpoint on the Jerusalem-Ma’aleh Adumim Road.

A female terrorist arrived at the checkpoint, pulled a knife out of her bag, and attempted to stab a border policeman. Fortunately, she was permanently dispatched before she could wound or kill anyone.

Elsewhere in Judea and Samaria, Palestinian terrorists attacked Israeli men, women, and children with “rocks” and Molotovs between the Al-Khader Junction and the North Efrat Junction, Beit Anun, Tikkun, Peduel, Adam, Tapuach, the Good Samaritan Junction, and at some 20 other locations.

The Transparency Law, two years later . . .

Remember the hue and cry two years ago, dear reader, when the Knesset passed the Transparency Law requiring that any organization receiving more than 50% of its funds from outside Israel submit a yearly statement as to where the money came from.

This morning, Im Tirtzu has issued an analysis of how the law has worked so far–and the results are a mixed-bag.

On the negative side, 61% of leftist organizations–including Peace Now and B’Tselem–are violating the law by not submitting any reports whatsoever. Apparently, the law is not being enforced.

On the positive side, leftist organizations have experienced a huge 42% drop in donations.

Im Tirtzu issued this statement: “The success of the expanded transparency law to block some of the donations from foreign governments proves that only legislation, alongside diplomatic activity, may curb the phenomenon, but the law should be enforced against the organizations that disparage it.”

TODAY’S BLOG:

Hit the Road TIPH and EAPP,

and Don’t You Come Back No More!

Definitions:

TIPH:  The “Temporary International Presence in Hevron. This “temporary” group has been in Hevron since 1994 and consists of 64 observers from the countries of Italy, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, and Turkey. The group is administered by the Norwegians.

EAPPI: The Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel. This group has been in Hevron since 2002 and consists of 25-30 “Ecumenical Accompaniers”. EAPPI is an organization created by the World Council of Churches.

Having been to Hevron numerous times in the past, your humble servant can attest to the fact that over the years there have been few organizations as abominable as the TIPH and EAPPI.

Both of these organizations have spent their years in Hevron accosting Jews who live in the city, verbally assaulting IDF soldiers stationed in the area, and traveling around the world castigating everything and anyone Israeli.

That the Israeli government permitted this egregious behavior can only be attributed to political correctness.

However, an incident happened this past summer that finally spurred the government to action. During a tour organized by the equally abominable Breaking the Silence group, the legal adviser of TIPH was videotaped hitting a 10-year-old Jewish boy in the face.

From that moment, there has been a surge of popular opinion demanding that TIPH be ousted from Israel.

Finally, PM Netanyahu announced yesterday that TIPH is being kicked out of the country.

In short order this morning, EAPPI announced that it is also leaving Hevron.

The Norwegian Foreign Ministry was quick to respond yesterday by declaring that the removal of TIPH is a violation of the Oslo Accords. Of course, the Oslo Accords did not include one word about TIPH.

As for EAPPI, the World Council of Churches issued a statement today that said it is leaving because of  its monitors are being “harassed by Jews in Hevron.” Talk about an Orwellian subversion of language.

The bottom line today is that the departure of TIPH and EAPPI is a cause of celebration for the Jewish community in Hevron and should be a cause of rejoicing for all those who care about Israel.
