The News On The Israeli Street
Trump’s Deal of the Century . . .
Trump’s “Deal of the Century” is complete. That information was released yesterday with further information that President Trump has been briefed on it.
In Israel, there is already mounting opposition on the right from those opposed to the U.S. recognizing a Palestinian state, to the U.S. supporting a division of Jerusalem with the Old City internationalized, and to the U.S. supporting a hand over of land from Area C to the Palestinians.
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
On the Gaza border:
More attempts to breach the Gaza border fence in the central Gaza region, more Hamas terrorists shot and repelled. Also more incendiary balloons were launched from Gaza toward southern Israel; fortunately, no fires are reported at this hour.
In Judea and Samaria:
Two knife-armed Palestinian terrorists from Yatta were captured at the security fence for the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hevron.
Palestinian terrorists attacked Israeli motorists with “rocks” and Molotovs in numerous places throughout Gush Etzion, along Road 443, and in the area near the Tapuach Junction.

And The Band played on . . .
You may remember “The Band’s Visit”, an Israeli comedy-drama movie from 2007 that depicts an Egyptian band being booked to play at an Israeli venue in the Negev by mistake. The interaction between the band members and the community members form the basis of the movie.
The movie was more recently turned into a musical on Broadway, and last night the musical’s soundtrack won the Grammy Award for Best Soundtrack.

Three Cheers for Zili!
Zili is the 6-year-old Belgian Malinese in the photo above. In the last 5 years, Zili has participated in dozens of security operations in Judea and Samaria during which he tracked down dozens of Palestinian terrorists.
Two days ago, it was Zili who tracked down the murderer of Ori Ansbacher.
From the account by Major “A” that was published this morning: “We arrived at the building in Ramallah at night, and began to comb through a building . . . I released Zili. Shortly afterward I heard him barking and realized that he had tracked down the terrorist. Zili stopped him from running away, and when we got to the terrorist, we captured him. This was not the first terrorist Zili has successfully tracked.”
And from the Commander of the the Yamam Unit: “The Yamam dogs are fighters in every respect. This is our perception that brings about a very significant connection between the fighting men and the fighting dogs. They practice with us, go out with us to activities and spend time with us in our spare time. The combination of a human warrior and a warrior on all fours is a winning combination, which has also brought many operational successes in recent times.”
Kolakevod Zili!
