TODAY’S BLOG:
Three Pictures That Tell The Friday Story
To begin with yesterday, the explosive balloon assaults on southern Israel entered a new phase:
What is circled is the explosive end of an RPG–with a detonator attached.
Not long after this photo was posted, Israeli police were called to the Skuda Forest in the Sdot Negev Regional Council. The reason they were called is that a balloon had crashed there with the above RPG explosive attached.
Fortunately, the rocket did not detonate when it hit the ground; police sappers detonated it, producing what local residents said was “a loud explosion.”
Obviously, we can now expect that more RPG rockets, mortar shells, and who knows what else will be attached to clusters of balloons being launched into Israel by Palestinian terrorists. It is because the balloons are clustered that they are able to carry the weight of the shells and rockets.

Next, as you can see from the breaking news ticker at the top of this page, Palestinian terrorists in Gaza fired another missile into southern Israel last night at 8:00 pm. The red pinpoints below indicate where the incoming missile alarms sounded:
The missile exploded between two kibbutzim “in an open area.” As we have often written on israelstreet, “an open area” means an area on which there is no structure. In other words, a missile could hit a park in the middle of a town, but as long as it only hit an area of grass in the park, it would be described as hitting “an open area.”
In response to the balloon attacks and the missile attack, the IDF responded last night. Here is a photo taken by Hamas this morning of the main attack site:
What the IDF spokesman claimed that Israel bombed was “Hamas Naval Facilities.” What it looks like the IAF bombed was an empty sand dune. It looks as if the “facilities”–if they can be called that–are still standing.
In any case, as usual, no terrorists were standing on the dune when the bomb hit because as we all know by now, the IDF warns Hamas in advance when a strike is going to take place, and gives the terrorists time to evacuate the dune or wherever they happen to be.
So there you have it, dear reader. Explosives raining down on Israel and a bombed out sand dune in Gaza. It was just another Friday in Israel.
