The News On The Israeli Street
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
In Judea and Samaria:
There were two attempted stabbings in the Hevron area today. In the first, a terrorist was captured before anyone was stabbed; in the second, a terrorist attempted to stab civilians near a military position beside Beit Hashalom (the House of Peace). He was shot and killed by IDF soldiers.
Palestinian terrorists opened fire on an Israeli motorist last night on the Iskaka Bridge between Ariel and Rechalim. Fortunately, no one in the car was wounded.
Palestinian terrorists attacked Israelis with “rocks” and Molotovs at Hizma, Luban a-Sharqiya, Halnul, near the Tapuach Junction, and near Peduel.
In the Jordan Valley:
A Palestinian terrorist attacked a motorist along the Jordan Valley road yesterday; the camera mounted on the rear of the car captured this photo:
The rear window was shattered with glass shards flying into the car’s backseat where carseats for children were located. Fortunately, there were no children in the car at the time.
Upcoming . . . the 7th of Adar . . .
You will note from the top of this page that today is the 5th of Adar II. Two days from now will be the 7th–a day that is recognized by orthodox Jews as the day that Moses died.
Less known is the fact that the 7th of Adar is also the day that has been set aside to remember fallen IDF soldiers whose burial place is not known.
In some synagogues “El Maleh and Rahamim” will be read, and the names of all 173 such soldiers will be read. If you are interested in doing the same on Thursday, you can access the names of the soldiers here (the list is in Hebrew).

Just think about the sequence of events again.
1. The Jordanians led by King Abdullah broke the status quo by adding members of the PLO to the Islamic Wakf Council that absurdly controls the administration of the Temple Mount.
2. Israel did not offer even one word in protest.
3. The new Jordanian-PLO Council immediately decided to provoke a confrontation by breaking into the Gate of Mercy–a gate that had been closed for 16 years.
4. Israel did not take action to reclose the Gate. The Israel Police–which actively colludes with Islamic Wakf did nothing.
5. The new Jordanian-PLO Council immediately proceeded to establish a mosque at the Gate of Mercy compound.
6. Israeli police ran away from a confrontation and the mosque remained open.
7. The new Jordanian-PLO Council designated the head of the Islamic Wakf and his deputy to be the ones to lead the prayers at the new Mosque.
8. Finally, the police detained the head and his deputy, but allowed the prayers to continue.
9. Massive Muslim protests erupted on the Mount demanding the release of the head and his deputy.
10. Israel sent a high-level delegation to Jordan (three days ago) to try to defuse the situation. Apparently, all of that Israeli pleading resulting in a temporary agreement which we have described previously here on israelstreet.
11. Yesterday, outright riots erupted again, and Muslim terrorists burned the Israel Police Station on the Mount.
If we have seen a sequence of events like this once, we have seen it a thousand times.
Israel kneels in the face of Muslims, does nothing to counteract terrorism, tries to play the nice guy by pleading to the very Muslims who caused the problem to stop, and ends up being subjected to ever greater indignity.
Have we no self-respect? Are we completely incapable of protecting our sovereign land–even the holiest place in Judaism?
Unfortunately, the answer is a resounding “yes.”
