The News On The Israeli Street
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
In Judea and Samaria:
Palestinian terrorists assaulted Israeli motorists with Molotovs and “rocks” at Curve 160 between Kiryat Arba and Hevron, Beit Ummar, Uja, Turmusayya, and at some 20 other locations.
Palestinian terrorists once again attacked Israeli schoolchildren on buses on the Gush Etzion road near Hevron and Tekoa.
During the night, Border Police captured 29 Palestinian terrorists wanted for violent disturbances against civilians and soldiers and involvement in terrorist activities.
The IDF Military Advocate General goes after our own soldiers, again . . .
As you may not know, the 5 Netzach Yehuda soldiers who roughed up several Palestinians while trying to ascertain the location of the terrorists who murdered one of their comrades, have all been absurdly sentenced to months in prison by an IDF military court after being harshly prosecutod by lawyers from the Military Advocate General’s Office.
Yesterday, the same Military Advocate Generals Office announced that it is opening investigations against IDF soldiers regarding the deaths of 11 Palestinian terrorists on the Gaza Border last year.
The soldiers, who acted at different times and at different locations, have already been found guilty. The official who made the disclosure about the investigations said that “such investigations are only opened if there is “reasonable grounds for suspicion of misconduct by soldiers.”
The situation is beyond outrageous.
Our soldiers on the Gaza Border are targeted continually by snipers and attacked everyday with grenades, bombs, IEDs, and Molotovs. Already, the rules of engagement severely hamstring them from protecting themselves.
And now they are going to be court-martialed?
A prelude to recognition? . . .
The Israeli news went bananas today gushing the news that the U.S. has recognized Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights.
Alas, it was just fake news.
Actually, all that happened was that the U.S. State Department’s Annual Report removed the term “occupied territory” from the Golan Heights and from “the West Bank.”
No matter how anyone wants to spin this, this omission is not the same as recognition. However, we can always hope that an announcement from the White House will be forthcoming.
It’s not really anti-Semitic . . .
Ok. So let’s get this straight.
Kawa Kollardi, a Muslim singer of Iranian origin who lives in Norway, was hired to sing at a multi-cultural festival in Oslo, and after wishing Muslims a happy Eid, then went on to add “F*cking Jews … just jokingly.”
He then apologized, but it turned out that days before he had tweeted “the f*cking Jews are so corrupt.”

However, when a complaint was filed with the State Prosecutor’s office because Kollardi’s comments were anti-Semitic, the Norwegian prosecutor declined to do so because Kollardi’s words could just be construed as “criticism of Israel’s policy”–despite the fact that Kollardi never mentioned Israel.
Congratulations to Ayelet Shaked! . . .
There may be only 27 more days to the election, but Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked is continuing her campaign to put more conservative judges on the bench.
Today, she appointed conservatives to a court that handles things like deportations.
Speaking of deportations . . .
Remember Lara Al Qassem–the Muslim American BDS supporter who was supposed to have been deported last year but was not because of the intervention of the Israel High Court of Justice?
You may remember how part of her argument for staying was that she has given up BDS and has stopped participating in Israel-bashing.
Guess what Lara is doing in the coming weeks?
She will be a speaker at an Israel-bashing conference in Tel Aviv which ridiculously alleges that democracy is disappearing in Israel.

The Most Hilarious Quotation of the Day
“The days of the freeze are over and will never return on my watch.”
Moshe Kahlon, Israel Finance Minister, in an announcement yesterday
Your humble servant cannot imagine how this statement could be any more ludicrous or self-serving.
Moshe Kahlon has been Israel’s Finance Minister and the head of the Kulanu party for the last three years. One of his Kulanu minions, Yifat Bitton, has been the Minister of Housing and Construction for most of that time. Together they have strenuously worked to block any new construction in Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria as well as any new Jewish neighborhoods in Jerusalem.
How much longer will Kahlon and Bitton serve in their current capacities?
27 days.
“The days of the freeze are over and will never return on my watch.”
His watch of 27 days.
Unbelievable.
By the way, in the same announcement, Kahlon announced that 1000 housing units “will be marketed” in Judea, Samaria, and Jerusalem. In Israel these days, there is no connection between units being marketed and units being built. A decade can pass before units are built if they are ever built at all.
So why did Kahlon make the announcement? Simple. His Kulanu party is in danger of not passing the threshold in the April 9th election, and Kahlon is desperately reaching out to “right-wing” voters.” But these voters know very well who Kahlon is and will not be swayed by his grasping at straws.
Oh well, a little humor is welcome during this mud-slinging election season.
