Quotation of the Day
(Do you want to know why we despise Israeli left-wing organizations?)
Radio Host Question: If you knew that a roadside bomb had been planted by terrorists to blow up our IDF soldiers, would you report it and try to prevent the attack?
Answer from representative of Machsom Watch: No, I would not report it and not try to prevent the attack.
Can you believe that? “No, I would not report it and not try to prevent the attack.”
This is a snippet from a conversation at Ashdod Online yesterday which was focused on the despicable ceremony in Hayarkon Park that took place on Yom Hazikaron which memorialized our dead soldiers and victims of terror —as well as, unbelievably, the dead terrorists who killed them.
Machsom Watch, as we have repeatedly reported on this blog, is an ultra-left wing group of Israeli women who go to checkpoints to help “poor Palestinians” who are supposedly being abused by IDF soldiers. As your humble servant has documented, the activities of Machsom Watch are a complete and dangerous fraud. Click on this link for my own personal experiences with Machsom Watch, and this one for what two Machsom Watch activists did before an terror attack at the Har Adar Checkpoint in which Israelis were murdered.
The News on the Israeli Street
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
On the Gaza border:
Palestinian terrorists launching explosive balloons from Gaza have set at least a half dozen fires along the Gaza border burning hundreds of acres of grasslands and agricultural fields. At this moment a team of 35 firefighters from Ashkelon and Rahat is fighting a fire that is raging out of control.
In Judea and Samaria:
Ma’ale Levona, Al-Aruv, on the Tunnels Road, Kibbutz Kfar Etzion, Al-Fawwar, near Karmei Tzur, Halhul: these are a few of the places where Palestinian terrorists attacked Israelis with “rocks” and Molotovs yesterday.
More from the two-day war a week ago . . .
United Nations Emissary Nikolai Mladanov in Gaza yesterday: “I hope the peace lasts at least three weeks–last weekend we were close to war.”
Southern Israel was hit by more than 750 missiles and mortars and we were “close to war”?
What about the sheer trauma experienced by Israelis–particularly Israeli children? It was reported this morning that a new phenomenon in trauma centers in the South is that 2 and 3-year-old children are now being treated. This comes in tandem with the findings that there has been a 40% increase in PTSD among adults living in the South.
By the way, it turns out that your humble servant’s home city of Ashdod was the hardest hit and is yet another example of false reporting by the IDF.
You will recall that the IDF reported that 117 missiles were fired at Ashdod, but only 1 got through—one that killed a man. At the time, your humble servant suggested that this could not possibly be true–other missiles were heard exploding all over the city.
This morning the Israel Compensation Fund released findings that 10 homes were destroyed in the city–and the residents of those homes are being housed in local hotels.
More than this, 166 buildings, 90 cars, and 5 unnamed locations were hit (a total of 261). Obviously much of this damage was done by incoming missiles from Gaza and some of it was done by Iron Dome missiles exploding over the city to intercept them.

By contrast, Ashkelon experienced a total of 234 hits and Sderot 25.
The bottom line is that the IDF, as always, has grossly understated the extent of damage in the south.
Hundreds of thousands of happy Muslims on the Temple Mount? . . .
One would think that Israel’s permitting more than 300,000 Muslim worshipers on the Temple Mount so far for Ramadan would have made them happy. Certainly, that is what our idiotic government and police thought. Even more than that, wouldn’t the Muslims be thrilled about the ban on Jews on the Mount–even on upcoming Jerusalem Day as announced today by Police Chief Superintendent Dvir Tamim?
Of course not.
Today has been marked by severe rioting on the Mount–particularly in the area of the Al-Aksa Mosque.
Trumpville . . .
We have already reported how Israel has decided to build a new community on the Golan Heights in honor of President Trump’s declaration of Israeli sovereignty over the Golan.
It was announced yesterday, that the community will initially have 110 housing units and be located in the northern part of the Heights.
TODAY’S BLOG:
The Amazing Answer Of Jason Greenblatt To The Majalla
In case you missed it, Trump Middle East emissary Jason Greenblatt was interviewed by a journalist from Majalla in the last few days, and the questions and answers were published online this morning (you can read the entire interview here). As you may not know, The Majalla is a Saudi-owned political news journal based in London.
In the midst of a number of questions, came this exchange (bolding is mine):
Majalla:
“Don’t the Jerusalem and Golan decisions prejudge what the plan holds for Palestinians?”
Greenblatt:
“First of all, the Golan decision is not related to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. In any event, these decisions were just a recognition of reality.
We believe that it was important to start from a place of truth, and that includes being honest about our recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital – it was the capital of the Jews in ancient times, and it has been the capital of Israel since the formation of the State of Israel. Pretending otherwise only undermines the chances of peace. There is no world in which Jerusalem would not be the capital of the State of Israel.
As far as the Golan Heights – who could suggest that Israel give up the Golan Heights, an area of very strategic importance, which was used to attack Israel over and over again, and give it to a man who committed mass atrocities and who barrel bombed women and children in his own country? If leaders reflexively fall back on old talking points and positions, we’ll never have more than the status quo.
Our plan is based on the current realities on the ground and we believe it offers an unquestionably better way of life for Palestinians. We are prepared for rational, logical criticism of the plan from all sides, but people should not use our policy positions to disregard our plan. How does that help Palestinians? Those who truly care about Palestinians should encourage Palestinians to read the plan and engage on the plan. That is the only way they have a chance at a good future. Disregarding the plan, or condemning the plan just hurts Palestinians. Speculating and condemning a plan that has yet to be released does nothing to advance peace.”
Bravo Greenblatt for his straightforward answer–devoid of political correctness.
Obviously, your humble servant does not know the details of the Trump Peace Initiative, but if Greenblatt’s answer is any indication, then perhaps it will not be as deleterious to Israel as many have thought. In any case, we will all find out at the end of Shavuot, the new release date for the plan.
