Breaking News:
1:00 am. The Knesset has voted to dissolve itself. All Netanyahu attempts at forming a Coalition have failed. A new election will take place on September 17.
Breaking News:
As of this hour, 10 pm Israel time, no coalition government has been formed. In the last hour, Likud announced that Parties totaling 60 mandates have signed a Coalition agreement; however the Kulanu Party of Moshe Kahlon then announced that it’s agreeing to the Coalition is conditioned on Lieberman’s agreeing to join the Coalition. Both Lieberman and the ultra-orthodox parties appear to have rejected a last minute compromise offered by Netanyahu.
Two hours to go.
Breaking News:
As of this hour, 8 pm Israel time, no coalition government has been formed. All evidence points toward a new election on September 17 with considerable jockeying for positions in that possible coming election already taking place.
However, President Rivlin has said that he will give PM Netanyahu until 11:59 pm to form a Coalition.
Because it appears increasingly unlikely that Avigdor Lieberman and his Yisrael Beiteinu Party will make any compromise, PM Netanyahu is frantically reaching out to other parties such as Labor to join a Coalition.
Four hours from now we will know more and will update this blog.
The News On The Israeli Street
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
In Judea and Samaria:
In the last hour there has been an assault using Molotovs and “rocks” by Palestinian terrorists on a bus traveling between Kfar Saba and Karnei Shomron, and another attack between Nabi Elias and Azzun.
On the Gaza border:
Palestinian terrorists set more of southern Israel ablaze today as incendiary balloons started fires at such places as Nahal Oz, Saad, and Sha’ar Hanegev. The following photo was taken in the Be’eri Forest several hours ago:
This photo comes from an agricultural grain field beside Nahal Oz today:
And what is the IDF’s comic response to the continued fires? Remember how the fishing range was increased from 5 miles to 10 miles to 15 miles off the coast of Gaza? And then reduced to 10 and then increased again to 15 two days ago?

A major victory for Sara Netanyahu . . .
Remember the “dormitories” case against Sara? Among other things, she was accused of fraudulently ordering $96,000 of private meals from such places as pizza parlors instead of using the cook at the Prime Minister’s residence. The meals were for her family and for visiting dignitaries.
All of this “fraudulent” activity took place in 2012 and 2013.
This morning Sara agreed to a plea deal in which all charges of “fraud” were dropped. Instead she pleaded guilty to the rather obscure misdemeanor of “intentionally making use of another’s error” (whatever that means).
She will pay a 10,000 shekel fine and 45,000 compensation (a total of about $15,000 dollars) to the state treasury.
The plea deal still has to be approved by a court; however, the deal itself shows that state prosecutors realize that they do not have a case of fraud.
Just stop and think about this for a moment.
Sara has been dragged through the mud by the Israeli media for almost 5 years over ordering take-out food from Jerusalem restaurants. 5 years which saw hundreds if not thousands of news reports about her “crimes” and 5 years during which her character was repeatedly impugned.
Bravo to Sara for sticking it out!
Speaking of “Bravo”: watch this video made by a member of IM Tirtzu . . .

Throwing the “Bereaved Families” under the bus, again . . .
Remember the Barkan attack last year in which two Israelis were brutally machine-gunned to death?
After that attack, the murderer fled the scene and proceeded to hide in the houses of various Palestinians–with their willing cooperation including the supplying of ammunition, weapons, food, and money. He was subsequently found and killed in a firefight.
Now the families of the victims are demanding that the homes of those that helped the terrorist be destroyed.
But no . . . the IDF Central Command declared today that: “There is no legal basis for the destruction of the hiding places in which the terrorist was present, whose owners did not take part directly in the terrorist attack.”
Does anyone expect more from the politically correct IDF General Command these days?
Disturbingly unsurprising news from Jerusalem . . .
A statistical analysis that appears in the newspaper Israel Hayom today demonstrably shows that the 12 large Jewish neighborhoods built in eastern Jerusalem after 1967 have stopped growing. Places like Ramot, Pisgat Ze’ev, East Talpiot, and Gilo have the same number of residents as they did several years ago.
Why? Because the government refuses to allow virtually any new construction in eastern Jerusalem.
All told, there are 216,000 Jews (38%) living in eastern Jerusalem with 340,000 (62%) Arabs living there. The Jews and Arabs in eastern Jerusalem constitute 60% of the entire population of Israel’s capital.
