Quote of the Day
“The death of the martyr from Nablus will cost Israel dearly.”
Hamas spokesman Benny Zuari who heads the Hamas “balloons” unit.
The “martyr” that Zuari refers to is the terrorist who carried out the stabbing attacks in Jerusalem yesterday. In retaliation for Border Policemen shooting the terrorist, Zuari went on to threaten to send hundreds of explosive balloons into southern Israel.
Of course, Zuari’s unit is already sending hundreds of “balloons” into Israel each week–each one loaded with increasing amounts of explosives. Take a look at this “balloon” that was launched yesterday:
At least four large fires were reported in the last 24 hours: the largest were in the Eshkol Region and in the Simhoni Forest in the western Negev where KKL and JNF firefighting teams are still fighting to gain control of the blaze.
Protests about government inaction to stop the “balloons” are springing up all over southern Israel. Here is a sign carried at the Sa’ad, Sapir Junction, Yad Mordechai Junctions last night:

More Palestinian terror overnight . . .
Following the stabbings in Jerusalem yesterday, there were two thwarted stabbings in Hevron. In the first incident, a terrorist armed with a knife was captured at the Cave of the Patriarchs; in the second incident, a terrorist who had a knife hidden in his clothes was captured at a checkpoint leading into the Jewish community in Hevron.
There is no further word this morning . . .
. . . on the status of Gavriel Lavi who suffered multiple stab wounds at the Damascus Gate yesterday. If you have a moment, pray for Gavriel.
Sheer, unadulterated lunacy . . .
Following the stabbings in Jerusalem, entrances to the Old City and Temple Mount were briefly closed down. However, within an hour, they were reopened, and our Israeli police were proud to announce that 260,000 Muslims from Judea, Samaria, Gaza, and Israel prayed on the Mount.
The Israeli police were proud to announce.
260,000.
And by the way, do you know how many Jews were permitted on the Mount yesterday–the holiest place in Judaism?
0.
And by the way, it turns out that the Palestinian terrorist who stabbed the Israelis yesterday was from a Palestinian settlement near Ramallah. He had been allowed into Jerusalem yesterday to pray on the Temple Mount.
Sheer, unadulterated lunacy.
Sheer, unadulterated arrogance . . .

Yesterday, it was announced that bids were being sought by the Jerusalem Municipality to build 805 new residential units in the Pisgat Ze’ev and Ramot neighborhoods. Both of these neighborhoods were annexed to the city of Jerusalem almost 50 years ago. Pisgat Ze’ev has a population of more than 50,000 people; whereas the Ramot (in total) neighborhood has well over 60,000.
Immediately, in response to the announcement, the ever abominable European Union reared its ugly head and condemned the new apartments to be built as “contrary to international law” and harming “a real and permanent peace.”
What a joke. Here we have the European Union–which is doing all it can to build illegal Palestinian settlements in the E1 area, Hevron, and anywhere else it can–terming 850 new apartments in Israel as contrary to international law.
Sheer, unadulterated arrogance.

The “Moderate Arab” Trap:
What Are We Getting Ourselves Into?
As you may not know, dear reader, the Organization for Islamic Cooperation based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia consists of 57 member states (53 are Muslim-majority countries) with a total population some 2 billion people.
At an “emergency” meeting of the group this week which was supposed to be all about isolating and condemning Iran, the talk has devolved into an attack on Israel–and perhaps an advance attack on the Trump Peace Initiative.
These verbal assaults were led by King Salman of Saudi Arabia himself with his designated successor Mohammed bin Salman sitting supportively at the Saudi Arabia desk in the auditorium (see photo above).
Among other things, King Salman ranted that the primary reason that the Organization for Islamic Cooperation exists is to support the “Palestinian struggle.” Obviously, what Salman meant was “the struggle against the Zionist entity.”
Salman went on to say that Saudi Arabia would adamantly oppose any effort to change the legal or historical status of “East Jerusalem” as a Muslim city. However, he dropped the “East Jerusalem” reference altogether by stating shortly thereafter: “We condemn any decision to define Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.”
A few hours later the organization adopted Salman’s statement and added that it condemned the U.S. moving its embassy to Jerusalem, condemned countries that have transferred their embassies to Jerusalem and would take “actions” against them, and rejected U.S. recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights.
All of this coming out of supposedly “moderate” Saudi Arabia at the urging of the “moderate” Saudi royal family.
It underscores what your humble servant has been saying all along.
There is no moderate Saudi Arabia. Just like there is no moderate Jordan. Just like there is no moderate Egypt.
Oh sure, each of these Arab countries can work together with Israel when it serves its interests. Saudi Arabia needs Israel to help stymie Iran; Jordan needs Israel to supply it with water; Egypt needs Israel to help fight anti-Egyptian terrorists in the Sinai.
But none of these counties is “moderate”, and none of these countries will ever do anything except condemn Israel is every possible venue. Whether it be King Salman, or King Abdullah, or President Sisi, each of these despots will ultimately act in his own self-interests. And in the Arab world, a despot acting in his own self-interest will always fall back on fomenting rabid hatred against Jews and Israel–because that is what the Arab masses understand is one of the central pillars of Islam.
Finally, one can only assume that the Trump Peace Plan is in large part based on the false idea of “moderate Arabs”. Israel cannot afford to let the Trump Peace Plan lure it into the “moderate Arab” trap .
