The News on the Israeli Street
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
*Palestinian terrorists in Judea and Samaria attempted to kill Israeli men, women, and children with “rocks” and Molotovs on Road 5 near the Zawiya Bridge, on the road north of Ofra, at the entrance to the southern Tunnel Road into Jerusalem, on Road 446 near Na’alin, and in the vicinity of the Hatzor IDF base among other places.
*Palestinian “balloon” terrorists in Gaza started this fire near Zikim yesterday:
Other “balloons” carrying large bombs were shot down over Kfar Aza and Sha’ar Hanagev.
*Palestinian terrorist smugglers (aka “fishermen”) were fired upon by the Israeli Navy when they exceeded the 6 mile “fishing” limit this morning.
*A Palestinian terrorist was captured this morning after infiltrating Israel through the Gaza Border Fence.
The sewage in Gaza . . .
And we’re not talking about the Palestinians living there.
We all know that the infantile Palestinians cannot take care of themselves. Now, Israeli taxpayers are going to have to wipe them too.
Because the Palestinians refuse to treat their sewage and allow tens of thousands of cubic meters of it to run into the sea and into Israeli agricultural areas via Nahal Hanun, the Western Planning and Building Committee approved spending 15,000,000 shekels yesterday to build a 12 km, 12 inch wide pipeline to bring the Palestinian sewage to the Sderot Sewage treatment facility.
Speaking of sewage . . .
This time we are writing about the Palestinian sewage incarcerated in Israel.
If you can believe this, Israeli officials in charge of Ramon Prison (one that houses some of the worst terror prisoners) have agreed to remove the jamming device that they were using to block phone calls inside the prison being made with smuggled phones.
Under the pretext of granting prisoners the right to listen to music and television with earphones, the prison scrapped its jamming device after prisoners threatened to riot.
Once again, we have a case in which the inmates are running the insane asylum.
The Khan al-Ahmar saga continues . . .
In the wake of yet another postponement of the razing of Khan al-Ahmar, the Netanyahu government claimed yesterday that it was asking for the postponement because of the Trump Administration.
The deeper story is that a number of U.S. congressmen have been lobbying the Administration to not raze Khan al-Ahmar following the bringing of a representative of the illegal settlement to Washington in April by the abominable J Street.
Apparently, the Trump Administration has agreed to ask Israel to delay the razing until after the Trump Peace Plan is published (if it ever is)–which is all fine and good with PM Netanyahu who is, as always, wedded to the status quo.
Another pro-Muslim ruling from the Supreme Court . . .

In its infinite lack of reason yesterday, the Supreme Court decided not to block Muslims on the Temple Mount from transforming the area beside the Flower Gate into a mosque.
What can we say? Step by step, we surrender Israeli sovereignty over the holiest place in Judaism.
Speaking of the Kotel and Mount . . .
Israel’s new acting Education Minister, Rabbi Rafi Peretz, announced yesterday that every Jewish student will receive a Torah at the Kotel (Western Wall) on the occasion of her bat mitzvah or his bar mitzvah.
TODAY’S BLOG:
4825 Days and Counting
Can you remember what happened on June 18, 1996?
On that date, Benjamin Netanyahu was first sworn in as Israeli Prime Minister.
He served from that date until July 6, 1999 when he left office.
Then, he was elected and sworn in again on March 31, 2009 and has been Prime Minister ever since. On July 17, he will surpass David Ben Gurion as the longest serving Prime Minister in the history of Israel.
One might reasonably ask “why is Netanyahu currently prime minister?”
After all, the Knesset dissolved itself back in January, and then Netanyahu was supposed to remain as Prime Minister until the election on April 9th as the head of a transitional government of sorts.
In that election, Netanyahu’s Likud Party won the most seats, and Netanyahu was asked to form a coalition presumably to become Prime Minister again.
In the meantime, a new Knesset was sworn in.
But then, Netanyahu couldn’t form a coalition.
And then, the Knesset voted to dissolve itself again, and new elections were announced for September 17.
So where does all of this leave us? Apparently, this is the first time that Israel has had what amounts to a “double transitional” government–one before and after an election.
No laws can be passed because there is no Knesset, but there is nothing to stop Netanyahu from hiring and firing new Cabinet Ministers.
The situation begs the question of what if the same thing happens on September 17th as happened on April 9th? What if Netanyahu’s Likud Party wins the most seats, but Netanyahu cannot form a Coalition? And another election is called . . . can Netanyahu remain Prime Minister indefinitely?
The fact is that after 4845 days (13.27 years) as Prime Minister, it already seems like Netanyahu has been in office indefinitely.
